As the 98th edition of the Academy Awards approaches, attention isn’t only on the red carpet fashion and films that can win the Oscar statuette. Like every year, everyone is curious about the Oscar gift bag presented to select nominees.

For the past 24 years, the luxury gift boxes have been assembled by the Los Angeles–based entertainment marketing company Distinctive Assets, led by marketing executive Lash Fary. While these bags are not officially issued by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, they have evolved into one of the most talked-about traditions surrounding Hollywood’s biggest night.
In this year’s edition, the Oscar gift bag is estimated to be worth nearly $350,000 (around INR 3.2 crore). Packaged in a sleek suitcase, the hamper combines luxury travel experiences, premium beauty products, gourmet treats, and a range of exclusive hospitality services.
Among the most tempting inclusions are high-end travel experiences. This year, nominees are offered stays at a private luxury villa in Playa Hermosa, complete with concierge, chef, and chauffeur services. Another getaway option features a stay in an Arctic villa in Finnish Lapland, where guests can witness the Northern Lights. The package also includes a week-long wellness retreat in Southern California and a ten-day rejuvenation programme at a Michelin-recognised resort in Sri Lanka.
Beauty and wellness form a major part of the hamper as well. Recipients receive a Sculpt & Lift facial, a three-piece luxury skincare set from INSTYTUTUM, and an SPF primer from Supergoop!. There is also approximately $400 worth of luxury spa credits redeemable for facials and massage treatments at DESUAR Spa.

The bag also includes cosmetic procedures. These range from a $25,000 (INR 22 lakh) facial rejuvenation treatment in New York, body-sculpting liposuction, and a smile makeover consultation with teeth whitening. In a rather unusual addition, nominees are also offered a customised prenuptial agreement drafted by celebrity divorce attorney James Sexton.
The hamper also includes an assortment of luxury items like designer luggage, a fountain pen, a gold-plated cold-storage cryptocurrency wallet, and a portrait photography session accompanied by a compact digital camera. For culinary enthusiasts, the hamper is packed with gourmet treats such as luxury tea tasting kits, dark chocolate pretzels dusted with edible gold crystals, chocolate-covered fruits, coconut almond bites, and other artisanal sweets. Reflecting evolving lifestyle trends, the bag also contains luxury cannabis offerings from Beboe, including high-potency cannabis products and alcohol-free THC margarita beverages.
Companies pay Distinctive Assets to feature their products in the hamper because it provides enormous global exposure. For many brands, the Oscars serve as a rare opportunity to place their offerings directly in the hands of celebrities and influential industry figures. For instance, Rescue Spa, founded by Danuta Mieloch, contributes skincare products worth about $450 (INR 40,000) to each bag.

According to organiser Lash Fary, the initiative also helps spotlight small businesses as well as women- and minority-owned brands, giving them international visibility during Hollywood’s most glorious event. With its mix of lavish travel experiences, beauty treatments, gourmet delights, and luxury products, the Oscars gift bag remains one of the most intriguing rituals of awards season — ensuring that even nominees who don’t win the statuette rarely leave empty-handed.
The 98th Academy Awards will be broadcast in India on March 16, 2026, at 4:30 a.m. IST
