Indian actress Tara Sutaria made a graceful first appearance at the Cannes Film Festival, exuding timeless vintage elegance on the French Riviera. Stepping into Cannes with a look inspired by classic Old Hollywood glamour, Tara’s debut outfit felt like a modern tribute to the style icons of the 1950s.

Sharing glimpses from her first day at the festival, the actor described the experience as a special milestone ahead of her appearance at the Red Sea Film Foundation’s Women in Cinema Gala, where she is set to be honoured.
For her Cannes debut, Tara chose a refined black-and-white midi gown by Helsa, a label celebrated for its understated luxury and vintage-inspired silhouettes. Styled by Tanya Ghavri, the dress balanced retro charm with polished minimalism.

The off-shoulder dress featured a sculpted sweetheart neckline with crisp white detailing across the bust. It created a dramatic contrast against the fitted black bodice. Cinched neatly at the waist, the dress opened into a voluminous midi skirt that carried the sophisticated flair of the 1950s.

Delicate lace accents and structured poplin detailing along the hem added softness and movement to the look. It evoked comparisons to style legends such as Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly, known for their Old Hollywood charm.
Leaning fully into Old Hollywood aesthetics, Tara completed the look with soft, voluminous waves styled in a side parting. This hairstyle is often associated with vintage screen sirens. Her makeup remained elegant and understated, featuring a matte complexion, fluttery lashes, softly bronzed skin, and a nude-brown lip that complemented the black and white ensemble.

Adding a regal finishing touch were statement gold pearl-drop earrings paired with pointed black pumps and sharp cat-eye sunglasses, giving the ensemble a cinematic Riviera mood. The look marked not just a fashion debut but also an important professional milestone for Tara.
Sharing photos from Cannes, she wrote, “Thrilled to be invited to Festival de Cannes and to be honoured at the Red Sea Film Foundation’s Women in Cinema Gala. Tomorrow eve is a big moment! Stay tuned… until then, some moments from day one…”

With her elegant monochrome styling and retro-inspired glamour, Tara Sutaria’s first Cannes appearance proved that sometimes, classic fashion truly never goes out of style.
