What Ralph Lauren, Coach And Rachel Comey Previewed During Spring/Summer 2027

New York Fashion Week kicked off its Spring/Summer 2027 season with three of American fashion’s most recognizable names, Ralph Lauren, Coach and Rachel Comey, each staging shows that doubled as milestones. Together, their presentations set an early tone for SS27 fashion trends: romantic tailoring, playful reinvention of heritage codes, and a sense of celebration running through the collections.

Each designer offered a distinct take on celebration, heritage and personal storytelling.

Three Shows, Three Statements

Ralph Lauren opened NYFW with a Spring Summer 2027 collection built around what the designer called an irreverent take on romance. The show was staged as a love letter to his wife of more than 60 years, Ricky Lauren, who sat front row.

Held in a minimalist, ivory-toned space in downtown Manhattan, the show opened with a white corseted top over tailored trousers and moved through billowing pinstriped pants, deep navy evening gowns with plunging necklines, and a golden fringed gown layered over trousers.

Feathered bolero jackets, oversized flowered brooches, and fringed waist scarves added texture, while two pantsuits paid homage to Lauren’s very first women’s suit design. Slim jackets with distressed, low-slung denim kept the Ralph Lauren collection grounded, and straw hats paired with slipper-flats gave the whole show an off-duty, European-getaway ease.

The show was also fur-free. Celebrities including Viola Davis, Cynthia Erivo, Elizabeth Debicki and Meghann Fahy watched from the front row.

Coach marked its 85th anniversary with a Spring Summer 2027 collection that read like a party rather than a retrospective. Creative director Stuart Vevers said he wanted to explore memory and the way familiar things change as we live with them, and he reworked Coach’s signatures rather than replaying them. The palette moved from dove grey, soft brown and natural leather into periwinkle, powder pink, mint, and metallics, and the materials included garment-dyed jersey, nappa leather, denim and sequins.

Inside-out leather coats exposing raw seams, bias-cut dresses, slouchy tailoring, and Western boots defined the silhouettes, and hand-rubbed metallic foil, cracked glitter surfaces, and confetti details finished the looks. Leather party hats and pin-on birthday-bow lapels leaned into the celebratory theme without tipping into costume. On the accessories side, the Coach SS27 runway collection reissued its 1970s-inspired Turnlock Tote, introduced the construction-revealing Inside-Out Brooklyn bag, presented a collaged vintage-pouch Tabby, and debuted the tennis-inspired Hudson sneaker.

Rachel Comey used her Spring Summer 2027 show, staged off-calendar ahead of the official NYFW schedule, to mark her label’s 25th anniversary. The Rachel Comey collection was framed around the idea of a family affair.

That framing suited a brand built on Comey’s independent, close-knit approach to American ready-to-wear over the past quarter-century.

A Shared Seasonal Thread

Together, the three Spring Summer 2027 runway shows suggest that SS27 designer collections this season will lean into sentiment, heritage, and craft. Ralph Lauren offered an ode to enduring romance, Coach delivered a playful unpacking of its own archive, and Rachel Comey presented a quieter celebration of twenty-five years of independent design.
