Yami Gautam’s Yellow Saree Look Ahead of Nayyi Navelli Is Pure Elegance

Yami Gautam visits Ayodhya in a glowing yellow saree ahead of her upcoming film Nayyi Navelli. With minimal jewellery, subtle makeup and a graceful drape, the actor embraces understated ethnic style while her latest film’s bridal wardrobe adds another layer to the fashion moment

Draped in a glowing yellow saree, actor Yami Gautam made a serene appearance in Ayodhya this week, just days before her new film Nayyi Navelli opened in theatres. The actor visited the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple and Hanuman Garhi to seek blessings, and later attended the evening aarti on the Sarayu riverfront. It was her first trip to the temple town, and her look was as calm and graceful as the occasion.

The choice of yellow also brought a festive warmth to the appearance, striking a balance between traditional dressing and understated elegance. With the film’s release around the corner, the look offered a glimpse of Gautam’s affinity for classic Indian silhouettes that feel relevant to both personal occasions and the big screen.

A Colour With Meaning

Gautam’s yellow saree was a thoughtful choice. In Indian tradition, yellow marks auspicious beginnings. It is worn for haldi ceremonies, Basant Panchami and temple visits alike. For an actor about to release a film just before Dussehra, the shade was ideal, i.e., warm, festive and hopeful.

It glowed against the temple’s stone architecture and the soft light of the ghats, making it one of the standout Bollywood celebrity fashion moments of the week.

Less Is More

What makes this ethnic look so striking is its restraint. She let the drape do the talking, and her only statement accessory was a pair of long earrings that framed her face. Her makeup stayed subtle and fresh, so her natural glow came through. There was no heavy embellishment and no layered jewellery, just a clean, graceful traditional outfit that suited the spiritual setting.

This has long been Yami’s signature. From her understated wedding look to her many festive appearances, she has shown that Indian wear does not need excess to make an impression.

The Nayyi Navelli Connection

The Ayodhya look also echoed the wardrobe of her new film. In Nayyi Navelli, Gautam plays a picture-perfect new bride, and her on-screen styling leans into classic North Indian bridal dressing. Glimpses from the film show her in a traditional red saree with gold-toned jewellery, red bangles and alta on her feet, alongside bright yellow suits with printed borders for her everyday newlywed moments. The film’s first-look poster went a step further, showing her battling monsters in a traditional saree, a playful twist on the idea of the perfect bahu.

Seen against that wardrobe, her yellow saree in Ayodhya felt less like a one-off outing and more like the bride stepping off the screen, i.e., warm, rooted and quietly confident. The resemblance makes her promotional appearance feel like a natural extension of the character she brings to the screen.

Nayyi Navelli releases in cinemas on October 16. Directed by Balaji Mohan, known for Maari, in his Hindi debut, and produced by Aanand L Rai and Himanshu Sharma, it is a fantasy family comedy set in a Meerut household. The bride turns a chaotic home into a kind of paradise, until her brother-in-law begins to suspect she may be a daayan. GV Prakash Kumar has composed the music.

If this is how release week begins, the rest of the story is worth looking forward to.
