Indian fans of Academy Award-winning filmmaker Christopher Nolan have already booked their seats and are being counted among the first audiences in the world to gain access to advance IMAX bookings for The Odyssey, the director’s upcoming mythological action epic scheduled for release on July 17, 2026.

Advance ticket sales for the film’s IMAX screenings opened across India on June 8, marking a significant milestone for both the filmmaker’s die-hard fans and the country’s growing importance in the global marketplace for cinema.
Despite premium rates in some cities across India for The Odyssey, several shows reportedly sold out within minutes. Premium seats in Mumbai and Pune were listed at up to INR 3,000, with some late-night shows in Mumbai going up to INR 3,300, making them some of the costliest cinema tickets currently on sale in the country.
The strong advance sales for the movie reflect the enduring commercial appeal of Nolan whose films have attracted audiences worldwide.

Litterateurs across the globe regard The Odyssey as an ancient oral Greek epic narrated by Homer. With the adaptation nearing its release, the literature enthusiasts and film audiences alike are all geared up to witness the cinematic interpretation of the classic epic. The film captures the journey of Odysseus, King of Ithaca, as he goes back to his home after the fall of Troy.

According to reports, The Odyssey is first feature film in history to be shot entirely using IMAX cameras, which was achieved using the newly developed IMAX film technology. Nolan reportedly invested two decades of his life to achieve this milestone.
Slated to release on July 17, The Odyssey is Nolan’s 13th feature film. The film has been produced by Emma Thomas and Christopher Nolan under the Syncopy banner. The film is going to be distributed in India by Warner Bros. Discovery on behalf of Universal Pictures India.
