Multi-cultural celebrity weddings are often the time when the bride and groom honour their traditions. From Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, who had a Konkani wedding ceremony as well as a Sindhi one to pay respects to their respective cultures to Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, who had a Hindu as well as a Christian wedding ceremony, and Prajakta Kohli and Vrishank Khanal, who combined both Maharashtrian and Nepali traditions in their wedding, the list is long.

Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Devarakonda followed suit honouring traditions of Mandanna’s Kodava lineage from Karnataka and Devarakonda’s Telugu roots by going all regal. The couple looked like literal gods and goddesses descending from heaven in traditional South Indian wedding attire and antique temple jewellery.

Rashmika, who has a bubbly girl-next-door image, chose to have a timeless look. She wore a rust-red saree from Anamika Khanna with temple-inspired motifs on the border borrowed from South Indian temples. There was no contemporary touch, but a majestic look steeped into South Indian heritage. Vijay matched the traditional energy, wearing an ivory Dhoti paired with a red Angarakha also by Anamika Khanna. It was adorned with embroidery featuring temple and forest motifs.

Designer Anamika Khanna wrote about the wedding looks of Rashmika and Vijay on Instagram, saying, “Draped in a rich rust saree framed with a striking red border, Rashmika Mandanna’s wedding look is a celebration of sacred artistry. Temple-house motifs are intricately embroidered across the drape, echoing the carved sanctums and spiritual geometry of Hyderabad’s heritage. Detailed hand embroidery in antique gold brings depth and luminosity, transforming the saree into a canvas of devotion and craftsmanship. Regal yet graceful, the ensemble embodies feminine strength rooted in tradition. Rooted in the textile legacy of Hyderabad, Vijay Deverakonda’s wedding ensemble draws from the strength of the Vanasingaram weave. An ivory dhoti silhouette is paired with a striking vermillion angavastram, embroidered with forest and temple-inspired motifs — symbols of power, lineage and sacred architecture.”

Temple jewellery at Virosh’s wedding

But beyond the traditional wedding attire, Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Devarakonda‘s wedding was in the news for temple jewellery by Hyderabad-based SHREE Jewellers. It featured kasu mala, snake chains, vankis to golusu to oddiyanam, making the look feel far beyond trends. Celebrity jewellery influencer Priyanshu Goel wrote, “From the Vanki on his arm to the Oddiyanam around his waist… from the Kasu Mala and Haram on his neck to the Kadukkan and Golusu — every piece spoke culture, not fashion. And on her side? Layered gold necklaces, temple-style pendant, heavy jhumkas, Jada Billa in her braid, shoulder chains holding the saree with grace — pure South Indian bridal royalty. No diamonds. No modern styling tricks. Just gold, rituals, and legacy passed through generations. And in the middle of all that shine… Rashmika is getting emotional, overwhelmed, tears in her eyes.”

Both Rashmika and Vijay Devarakonda‘s wedding looks got the Internet into a frenzy with many relating them to mythological couples — from Ram Sita to Shiv Parvati. “Vijay and Rashmika have finally tied the knot in a ceremony that can only be described as epic. Agni ko sakshi aur Ram–Sita ko inspiration maan kar, the couple took their vows of “in sickness and in health.” A love worth fighting a war for. In an era of algorithmic flings, are we not all searching for that same mythical love?”, wrote Diet Sabya, decoding their looks.
