The Luxe Ganpati Edit: Ten Celebrity Looks For Festive Dressing

As Ganesh Chaturthi reaches its ceremonial close today, September 25, with Anant Chaturdashi and the day’s Ganpati visarjan, the festival leaves behind more than images of processions and celebrations. Over the past 10 days, it has also offered a vivid snapshot of how Indian festive dressing is evolving, with celebrities moving between heritage textiles, elaborate jewellery and contemporary interpretations of traditional silhouettes.

Nita Ambani set an opulent tone at Antilia, wearing an orange-and-fuchsia Kanchipuram silk saree with Amrapali Jewels’ Amrapali Bharatam necklace.

Created using elements inspired by antique and vintage Indian jewellery traditions, the elaborate piece brings regional craftsmanship into a singular statement.

Radhika Merchant took a similarly rooted approach in a jewel-pink Kanjeevaram, pairing its gold zari, marodi embroidery and zardozi detailing with traditional jewellery, a matha patti and gajra for her Bharatanatyam performance dedicated to Lord Ganesha.

Tradition Found New Expression

Janhvi Kapoor brought Gujarat’s textile heritage into the festivities in a deep pink and blue double-Ikat Patan Patola saree, styled with statement earrings, bangles and a maang tikka.

Rekha stayed close to classic Indian dressing in a purple Kanjeevaram silk saree, adding gold and emerald jewellery, a green potli and gajra.

Kareena Kapoor Khan chose a mustard-yellow Anamika Khanna Anarkali with an elaborate zari border, finished with a pearl necklace that softened the rich palette.

Kiara Advani opted for a pink Chanderi saree, allowing an emerald-and-diamond necklace to provide the defining jewellery accent.

Ananya Panday introduced a brighter note in a yellow Bandhani by Arpita Mehta, with its golden border offset by turquoise earrings.

Khushi Kapoor, meanwhile, chose a red embroidered saree and diamond choker accented with an emerald, keeping the styling focused on the rich surface detail of the ensemble.

Modern Festive Notes

Alia Bhatt offered a more contemporary interpretation in an icy-blue custom Masaba Gupta saree featuring zardozi embroidery and a structured corset. For visarjan, she shifted to a fuchsia short kurta with a lime-green farshi salwar, bringing a historic Indian silhouette into a vivid modern palette.

Disha Patani went in a distinctly glamorous direction with a red embroidered lehenga and deep-cut blouse, offering another interpretation of festive dressing.
