Bentley Honors 80 Years Of Crewe Excellence With Exclusive Continental GTC

Few factories become legends. Maranello gave the world Ferrari. Stuttgart became synonymous with Porsche. Crewe, meanwhile, transformed itself into the beating heart of Bentley, where craftsmanship and engineering have coexisted for eight remarkable decades. To celebrate 80 years of production at its Cheshire headquarters, Bentley brought history home with a spectacular display of 107 customer-owned Bentleys lining Pyms Lane, alongside the unveiling of a one-off Continental GTC commissioned through Mulliner. More than an anniversary celebration, the event honoured the artisans, engineers and generations of craftsmen who continue to shape every Bentley by hand while looking ahead to an electrified future.

More Than A Century Of Bentley Heritage Returned Home

The celebrations began with an extraordinary gathering organised in partnership with the Bentley Drivers Club, which is itself marking its 90th anniversary. A total of 107 Bentleys, representing more than a century of the marque’s history, lined the famous Pyms Lane production facility in chronological order. The display began with EXP3, the very first Bentley delivered to a customer, before progressing through the iconic W.O. Bentley era, the Derby years, legendary Blowers, post-war grand tourers and modern-day Bentaygas, culminating with a 2025 Flying Spur Speed. Owners travelled from around the world to reunite their cars with the very factory where generations of Bentleys have been painstakingly handcrafted, creating one of the most comprehensive displays of Bentley heritage ever assembled.

A One-Off Continental GTC Celebrates Crewe’s Finest Craftsmanship

At the centre of the celebrations stood a unique fourth-generation Bentley Continental GTC created exclusively by Mulliner, Bentley’s bespoke commissioning division. Finished in an exclusive Supernova Purple Ombre paint developed specifically for the anniversary, the striking exterior transitions seamlessly from Supernova Purple into a darker hue, complemented by bespoke ’80’ side graphics featuring a reverse ombré effect. Inside, the handcrafted cabin continues the celebratory theme with embroidered ’80’ motifs on the headrests and a beautifully airbrushed fascia depicting Bentley’s iconic Design Studio alongside a tribute to eight decades of vehicle production in Crewe. The commission represents everything Mulliner does best, combining exceptional craftsmanship with highly personalised design to create a true collector’s piece.

The Dream Factory Blends Heritage With Tomorrow’s Technology

While Bentley celebrated its past, the occasion also highlighted the remarkable transformation of its Crewe headquarters into the company’s next generation Dream Factory. Originally constructed in 1938 to build the legendary Rolls-Royce Merlin aircraft engines, the site became Bentley’s manufacturing home in 1946 and has continuously evolved ever since. Today, it integrates design, research and development, engineering, manufacturing and commercial operations within a single campus. Recent additions include a new Design Studio, Engineering Technical Centre, Excellence Centre for Quality and Launch, Integrated Logistics Centre and a state of the art Paint Shop. Work is also underway to convert the oldest building on site into the production facility for Bentley’s first fully electric vehicle, due to debut later this year, ensuring the marque’s heritage continues alongside the future of luxury mobility.

Performance Matches The Exclusivity

Beneath the bespoke exterior, the commemorative Continental GTC is based on Bentley’s latest fourth-generation grand tourer and combines extraordinary craftsmanship with equally extraordinary performance. Power comes from a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 working alongside a 140kW electric motor, producing a formidable combined output of 771 bhp and 1,000 Nm of torque. The plug-in hybrid system is paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, active all-wheel drive, an electronic limited-slip differential and torque vectoring for maximum composure. A 25.9kWh battery enables a claimed 78 kilometres of pure electric driving, while the luxury convertible still sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds before reaching a top speed of 285 km/h. Air suspension with advanced twin-valve dampers ensures the effortless ride quality expected from Bentley, blending performance with supreme comfort.
