Kids couture is not something you hear uttered in the same sentence very often. However, French premium brand Jacadi Paris is here to change that, as the brand enters India in collaboration with Burgundy Brand Collective, owned by Samir Gadhok and Avani Raheja. Sonam Kapoor Ahuja was a part of the launch party, as she inaugurated the store along with the founders at Phoenix Mall, Palladium in Lower Parel, Mumbai.

Burgundy Brand Collective, launched in 2012, is responsible for bringing the much loved Onitsuka Tiger and Royce Chocolates to India, and operates in the specialty retail landscape. Outlook Luxe caught up with Cedric Dardenne, CEO of Jacadi Paris, and Gadhok and Raheja, in a freewheeling chat about how it’s the right time to enter the luxury market in India for a kids fashion brand.

According to Dardenne, it made complete sense to enter India at this moment, “India’s luxury market is witnessing tremendous growth, driven by a new generation of affluent, globally connected consumers. Parents today are looking for the same level of quality and refinement in their children’s wardrobe as they do for themselves. The growing appreciation for heritage brands, premium craftsmanship, and exclusive retail experiences makes India an exciting market for Jacadi Paris.” According to the Burgundy Brand Collective, parents in the luxury segment prioritize quality, comfort, and timeless design when choosing clothing for their children. They seek brands that offer exceptional craftsmanship, premium materials, and designs that balance elegance with everyday practicality. “Sustainability and ethical production are also key considerations, and Jacadi’s commitment to responsible sourcing and eco-friendly practices makes it a preferred choice for discerning parents.”

New-age parents desire to make core memories with their children. They are very conscious of what would be the best for their children, in terms of user experience, and source the best material possible. Exclusivity and the ability to create cherished childhood memories through beautifully designed clothing play a crucial role in decision-making while picking up clothes and other accessories for their children.

First mover advantage

With the rise of luxury malls, a strong e-commerce ecosystem, and an international clientele that values both tradition and modernity, Jacadi Paris has pegged it as the right time to enter India and establish itself as the go-to brand for luxury children’s fashion, even as luxury goes through a slump worldwide.

Jacadi Paris embodies the authentic timeless heritage of France’s tradition of children’s fashion to the world, if you ask Dardenne. Ask him about his goals for India and he says, “Our mission remains the same – to enchant and pass on the best of childhood, that resonates deeply with India’s growing appreciation for prestige, high-quality children’s fashion. Indian parents are increasingly seeking well-crafted and refined children’s goods that goes beyond clothes, to accessories, skincare and nursery items.

Jacadi is banking on its French heritage, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence to meet perfectly with the expectations of new age parents. With a strong emphasis on tradition, yet designs for modern families, Jacadi aims for a sophisticated and globally recognized aesthetic that is both aspirational and relevant to the Indian market.

India-centric

“I feel the Indian audience will appreciate the timeless French elegance that the brand brings to the country,” says Dardenne. “We have presented a curated collection of beautifully crafted clothing, blending tradition with modernity. Jacadi Paris is uncompromising on quality. It presents exceptional fabrics, impeccable tailoring, and an emphasis on durability and comfort.”

It isn’t enough for a brand to only offer great products in 2025 and exist in the luxury market. The brand has introduced a unique omni-channel shopping experience that aims to put the customer at the heart the shopping experience with tailor-made services. The space is thoughtfully designed to offers a personalized experience for parents and children alike.

According to Gadhok, “Jacadi Paris remains deeply rooted in its French heritage, but as a global brand, we always appreciate and celebrate cultural influences from around the world. While our core collections maintain the brand’s signature aesthetic, we are always open to creative inspiration from local traditions, fabrics, and artisanal techniques that align with our design philosophy.” As they expand in India, the brand will seek to explore ways to engage with the rich textile heritage of the region.

Any India-specific collaboration in the future? We ask. Continues Gadhok, “We are always exploring meaningful collaborations that align with our brand ethos. While nothing is confirmed at the moment, we see great potential in working with Indian designers, artists, or textile experts to create exclusive, limited-edition pieces. Our focus is on collaborations that celebrate craftsmanship, storytelling, and the essence of childhood in a way that resonates with our global and Indian audiences.”
