Titan Becomes The First Indian Watchmaker To Compete In Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Geneve

This is the first step for Titan to make a mark on the international horology market.

July 24, 2024

In a bid to become a global phenomenon in timekeeping, homegrown watchmakers Titan have entered two of their wristwatches in the prestigious Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Geneve (GPHG) competition this year. This makes them the first ever Indian brand to compete in the competition.

Titan has enlisted in two categories of GPHG—Time Only and Challenge—with Titan Edge Squircle and Titan Edge Ultraslim, respectively. These watches are up against international heavyweights such as Chopard, Parmigiani Fleurier, IWC Schaffhausen, Bremont, Frédérique Constant and Oris.

The final nominations are yet to be shortlisted for GPHG competition. Titan pursuing global recognition in timekeeping excellence is a matter of great pride and a bolster for the segment. The 40-year-old organisation is India’s leading lifestyle company with leading positions in the jewellery, watches and eye care categories. Titan has also diversified into wearables, Indian dress wear and fragrances and fashion accessories categories.

GPHG was created in 2001 and has been run by a public interest foundation since 2011. For more than 20 years, it has pursued its mission of showcasing the art of watchmaking with the support of its public and private partners, notably its principal partner FGP Swiss & Alps, backed by the participation of all those involved in the industry.

About The Watches

Titan Edge Squircle Matte Black

Titan Edge Squircle  is a unisex watch that exudes sophistication with its matte black finish and modern design. This timepiece features a unique squircle case and boasts a unique textured dial with two hemispheres and a finely machined ripple effect on the sapphire crystal. The timepiece has the Edge Calibre T9081, an incredibly thin (1.15mm) quartz movement and a slim case thickness of just 4.4 mm making it a testament to refined craftsmanship.

Titan Edge Ultraslim

The Titan Edge Ultraslim model is part of a 10-piece limited edition series. It has a one-of-a-kind disc movement that glides seamlessly across the dial, creating the illusion of a floating hand and emphasising the continuous nature of time. The movement is housed in an ultra-slim 3.3mm case, crafted from Grade 5 Titanium for exceptional durability. The dial is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, treated with six layers of anti-reflective coating for enhanced visibility. The movement, known as the Edge Calibre T9081, utilizes an optimized stepper motor, making it one of the slimmest quartz movements at just 1.15 mm. The sleek Titanium case measures 40.5 mm and features a finely microblasted silver-white dial.
