Ajabgarh: A New Luxury Escape A Few Hours From Delhi

Ajabgarh, an ancient village in Rajasthan, offers tranquil escapes amid mythical forts and deciduous forests with a new luxury retreat

April 16, 2025

Within the folds of the Aravalli Hills, Ajabgarh is a secret Rajasthan has kept well. Located between the historical cities of Jaipur and Alwar, this quaint hamlet whispers tales of valiant Rajput warriors, mysterious ruins, and a landscape that seamlessly merges rugged wilderness with pockets of opulence. The biggest draw, of course, is the fabled Bhangarh Fort—India’s infamous haunted site—but Ajabgarh offers an unexpected retreat into luxury, serenity, and immersive cultural experiences for those willing to look beyond.

Ajabgarh’s Luxurious Escape

Contrasting the ghostly aura of Bhangarh, Ajabgarh is also home to some of Rajasthan’s most refined hospitality. The latest is the Ananta Spa & Resort, which has turned this offbeat locale into a sanctuary for travellers seeking adventure and relaxation.

“Our vision for Ajabgarh is to craft an extraordinary retreat that blends the natural beauty of this serene location with world-class luxury,” shares Ashutosh Goyal, Director, Ananta Hotels & Resorts. “Each villa reflects the elements of nature—fire, earth, bamboo, and lagoon—allowing guests to feel grounded while enjoying unparalleled amenities.”

Ananta Spa and Resort, Ajabgarh’s design seamlessly blends luxury with nature, featuring uniquely crafted villas embodying natural elements. The bamboo villas, inspired by traditional eco-friendly architecture, offer a serene retreat with natural textures and open spaces, while the exquisite water villas create a tranquil oasis with lotus ponds and views from outdoor seating that elevate the charm of the surrounding landscape.

With wellness at its core, the resort offers curated experiences such as holistic Ayurvedic treatments, cultural excursions, and guided safaris into the nearby Sariska Tiger Reserve.

Reimagining Remote Luxury

How does a relatively undiscovered place like Ajabgarh attract discerning travellers? According to Mohit Goyal, Director of Ananta Hotels & Resorts, accessibility has been a key consideration.

“Ajabgarh is within a few hours’ drive from Delhi, Jaipur, and Agra, making it an ideal escape from urban chaos. We are also working on private shuttle services and guided self-drive routes to ensure seamless connectivity.”

Beyond connectivity, Ajabgarh’s allure lies in its ability to offer a sense of exclusivity. Here, the raw beauty of Rajasthan unfolds in the form of sprawling landscapes, elusive tigers, and vibrant birdlife, adding a thrilling dimension to an otherwise tranquil getaway. Unlike Rajasthan’s bustling tourist circuits, this region remains pristine and raw, inviting travellers to embrace its quiet charm. “It’s for those who seek something different and want to disconnect from the usual and reconnect with nature,” adds Ashutosh.

Offbeat Luxury In Rajasthan

Ajabgarh is more than a weekend escape; it’s a destination that bridges the gap between legend and luxury, wilderness and wellness. Whether it’s the spine-tingling tales of Bhangarh or the rejuvenating embrace of Ananta, this hidden corner of Rajasthan offers something for every kind of traveller.

As Ashutosh aptly puts it, “Ajabgarh is a milestone, but it’s also the beginning of many more transformative journeys to come.” And for those who seek beauty in the unexpected, this is one journey worth taking.
