Shaheen Bhatt is officially engaged! The announcement is as heartfelt as it is understated. On Friday, Alia Bhatt’s sister took to Instagram to share a series of intimate moments with fiancé Ishaan Mehra, sharing a glimpse of her engagement ring.
In the first photo, Shaheen is seen holding Ishaan close while showing off her ring. In another picture, she rests her head on his shoulder. Keeping the tone light and personal, she captioned the post, “We may have overdone this whole liking each other thing.”
The announcement quickly drew reactions from friends and family. Sister Alia Bhatt reshared the post on her Instagram stories, writing, “Currently weeping (crying face emoticons).” Among others, Parineeti Chopra commented, “The Unbreakable Vow!” while filmmaker Zoya Akhtar added, “Congos and bongos.” Navya Naveli Nanda and Shanaya Kapoor also extended their wishes, with Ananya Panday writing, “Shaheeeeen! Soooo happy for you (red heart emoticons) all the love and joy in the world.”
The engagement comes nearly a year after Shaheen made her relationship with Ishaan public. In April last year, she shared a photo resting her chin on his shoulder, followed by a candid shot of him lying on the grass. While she had posted glimpses of him earlier, she had kept his identity under wraps. The couple has since appeared together in several moments shared online, including a New Year trip to Thailand with the Bhatt and Kapoor families, where they were seen cuddling on a cruise and posing together.
Before Ishaan, Shaheen was in a relationship with comedian Rohan Joshi, with whom she parted ways a few years ago.
On the professional front, Shaheen is also stepping into a new creative chapter. She recently announced her upcoming project Don’t Be Shy! The 37-year-old will co-produce with Alia under their banner, Eternal Sunshine Productions. The coming-of-age romantic comedy, written and directed by Sreeti Mukerji, follows Shyamili “Shy” Das, a 20-year-old navigating life as her carefully planned future begins to unfold in unpredictable ways. Meanwhile, Alia is gearing up for her next on-screen appearance in Alpha.
