Private jets, luxury hotels and fashion events are familiar markers of a glamorous social calendar. For Kimberly Guilfoyle, the former television host and prosecutor who served as the US ambassador to Greece, these experiences have become part of a larger conversation about the intersection of luxury, business and diplomacy.
Guilfoyle arrived in Athens in November 2025 with a high-profile public persona. Once engaged to Donald Trump Jr., she brought considerable name recognition to the diplomatic posting, along with an Instagram following of about two million. Her time in Greece included lavish social occasions, including a Fourth of July party featuring a fighter jet flyover arranged by the Greek military.
However, reports about her private travel and relationships with prominent Greek businessmen have since drawn attention. On October 13, the White House asked her to resign. Guilfoyle confirmed her departure, describing the posting as “the honor of a lifetime” and denying wrongdoing.

Private Jets and High-Profile Connections
According to ‘The Wall Street Journal’, Alexandros Exarchou, CEO of construction group AKTOR, reportedly flew Guilfoyle to the World Economic Forum in Davos in January 2026 on his private jet. The publication also reported on her efforts to encourage regional governments to work with AKTOR and purchase American natural gas.

Another name associated with Guilfoyle’s reported luxury travel is Nikolas Tsakos, CEO of Tsakos Energy Navigation. Tsakos reportedly paid her bill at the Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris, where Guilfoyle shared around 20 photographs with her social media followers. She reportedly planned to travel with him on a private jet to Paris for his wife’s fashion show and spent Christmas and New Year’s with the Tsakos family in Gstaad, the Swiss alpine resort known for its luxury hotels and winter holiday scene.

The reported arrangements have raised questions about whether such hospitality was appropriately disclosed.

A Davos Dinner and an Allegation
Davos also features in reports about Guilfoyle’s connections with influential business figures. She reportedly sought help securing a place at a Greek House dinner honouring Eric Trump after initially being left off the guest list. Greek House Davos head Irene Vantaraki reportedly later described her as “gracious and discreet”.

Separately, former associate Eric Deters shared messages that allegedly showed Guilfoyle asking for Rs 96.9 lakh towards her American Express bill in July 2025, before her Senate confirmation hearing. Deters claimed the payment was intended to keep the debt off her financial disclosures. Her lawyer, Jesse Binnall, questioned the messages’ authenticity and said any money owed related to earlier speaking and consulting work.

Luxury and Diplomacy
The US State Department’s inspector general is reportedly examining whether Guilfoyle accepted gifts or favours from private businesspeople. The US Embassy in Athens has maintained that she followed department guidance on declaring gifts and described the allegations as unsubstantiated.
Guilfoyle’s departure does not establish wrongdoing, and she denies the allegations. Yet the controversy has brought an unusual combination of private aviation, Paris fashion, alpine holidays and diplomatic protocol into the spotlight. The outcome of the inquiry will determine what, if anything, the reported hospitality arrangements mean for her legacy as ambassador.
