In a significant leadership transition, William Grant & Sons (WG&S), the globally renowned family-owned Scotch whisky distiller, has appointed Kartik Mohindra as Managing Director, India. The appointment will be effective from 30 September, as the company continues to strengthen its footprint in one of its key emerging markets.

Mohindra brings with him a wealth of experience from his tenure at Pernod Ricard India, where he most recently served as Chief Marketing Officer & Head of Global Business Development. With over 26 years of leadership across marketing, sales, and global expansion in the alcohol, beverage, and FMCG sectors, he has been instrumental in driving category innovation and business growth across multiple international markets. His strategic contributions at Pernod Ricard included launching brand extensions, overseeing premium portfolio performance, and spearheading the globalisation of Indian-origin brands.

His appointment follows the elevation of Sachin Mehta, the outgoing MD of WG&S India, who will now take on an international mandate as Managing Director, Canada. Over the past nine years, Mehta has played a pivotal role in scaling WG&S’s presence in India, helping to position its premium spirits portfolio—including Glenfiddich and The Balvenie—at the forefront of the Indian luxury liquor segment.

Doug Bagley, Chief Commercial Officer at William Grant & Sons, commented on the development, stating, “These appointments reflect WG&S’s continued investment in key growth markets and a commitment to strengthening our global leadership team. We are excited to welcome Kartik to our team in India—a strategically important market for us. Driven by his expertise, we’re confident that we will further build on the great progress Sachin and the team have made in India in recent years.”
