Nike x NorBlack NorWhite Unveil Bandhani-Inspired Sportswear Line

Featuring bandhani-inspired patterns across apparel, footwear, and accessories, the collection invites women into sport with confidence, comfort, and cultural pride

June 12, 2025

In a bold celebration of Indian artistry and the power of self-expression, Nike has partnered with the trailblazing creative collective NorBlack NorWhite to launch a striking new collection. Seamlessly blending performance wear with traditional Indian craftsmanship, the Nike x NorBlack NorWhite range redefines what it means to move — and look — with purpose.

The limited-edition capsule, available globally from June 11 on Nike.com and select Nike stores, includes footwear, apparel, and a cross-body bag, all unified by one vision: to empower women through movement and style that’s deeply rooted in culture.

At the heart of the collection lies bandhani, a centuries-old Indian tie-dye technique known for its intricate dot patterns and spiritual significance. Bandhani is not just a textile art — it’s a ritual, passed down across generations, symbolising heritage, patience, and resilience. In NorBlack NorWhite’s hands, this art form transforms into dynamic design language, applied to Nike silhouettes that are made for motion, whether in a gym, on a street, or on the global stage.

“This collection shines a light on the rigor, dedication and ancestral knowledge that’s rooted in Indian culture,” explains Mriga Kapadiya, co-founder of NorBlack NorWhite. “We hope each piece inspires women to draw into their own athletic mindset while navigating everyday life in India and around the world.”

A Cultural And Athletic Conversation

The Nike x NorBlack NorWhite collaboration isn’t just about clothes; it’s a conversation — about identity, athleticism, femininity, and representation. Amrit Kumar, the brand’s co-founder, adds: “We want women to feel cool and collected through the colors, and to be ready to take on challenges and build strength and resilience through the patterns. Women who wear these pieces should have fun and own the spectrum of hues — all knowing that we, as women, aren’t here to play.”

The collection’s apparel range includes a hoodie, tank top, cropped T-shirt, two bra styles, 5-inch shorts, and 7/8-length tights — each one designed to offer comfort, performance, and a vivid nod to Indian textile history. A cross-body bag featuring the same motifs completes the look, offering both style and utility.

In footwear, four silhouettes have been reimagined with NorBlack NorWhite’s vibrant touch: the Nike Air Max Craze, Motiva, Pegasus 41, and the relaxed Calm slide — all tailored for today’s on-the-go woman who refuses to compromise between fashion, identity, and function.

A Homegrown Campaign, A Global Message

Bringing the collection to life is a bold campaign starring women who embody strength, individuality, and Indian excellence in sport. Featuring wrestler Anshu Malik, sprinter Priya Mohan, and cricketers Jemimah Rodrigues and Shafali Verma, the visuals speak volumes about power, representation, and pride.

For Jemimah Rodrigues, the campaign hits especially close to home: “What really hits different from other campaigns is that this collaboration is designed right here in India by a local collective that gets our vibe,” she says. “Wearing Nike that’s laced with Indian culture is a flex. It’s bold, rooted and ours. As a woman in a sport that’s often seen through a male lens, being part of a campaign like this is my way of saying, ‘We’re not just showing up, we’re here to take over, win big and look fab while doing it.’”

It’s this exact spirit — unapologetically grounded and globally ambitious — that defines the Nike x NorBlack NorWhite partnership. The collection is more than just product; it’s a powerful call to action for women to take up space, embrace their cultural roots, and redefine what movement means in their own way.

Global Platform, Local Voice

By spotlighting traditional Indian artistry through a global lens, Nike continues to expand its commitment to cultural storytelling and inclusive design. For NorBlack NorWhite, this collaboration is a continuation of a long-standing mission: to uplift Indian crafts and communities by making them not just visible but aspirational.

“Our NorBlack NorWhite journey started with a deep admiration for the crafts practices of India and the people who bring them to life,” says Kapadiya. Now, that journey finds new momentum — through color, movement, and the unmatched energy of women who are ready to move the world.

Nike x NorBlack NorWhite isn’t just a collection — it’s a celebration. Of heritage. Of hustle. Of women who move boldly, wear their roots proudly, and never settle for less than everything.
