Under Royal Enfield’s patronage, their EV vertical Flying Flea showcases a bike as an art installation at the Salon del Mobile
LA-based multi-disciplinary artist Mattia Biagi has partnered with Flying Flea, a new two-wheeler vertical by the venerated Royal Enfield, to create a work of art named ‘Mototem’, recently unveiled at the Salone del Mobile 2025 held in Milan, Italy. The unique art piece brings the worlds of design and automobile together and is not only a landmark in art and mobility but celebrates the spirit of creativity, innovation and sustainability. Mattia Biagi is an internationally acclaimed Italian artist and designer whose work has been featured in the permanent collections of prestigious museums across the United States and Europe before. His creations are highly sought after by esteemed art foundations and some of the world’s most prominent private art collectors.
Based on the FF.C6 model from Flying Flea, Mattia has incorporated elements of natural materials into the design, reimagining components such as the forged aluminum frame, girder forks and magnesium battery case with stunning results. The use of materials such as travertine, clay, bronze, stone, leather and blown glass elevates the canvas of the FF.C6 to heights never before seen in the art bike space. The bike, which represents both a two-wheeler and a flea due to its unique structure, is created in the spirit of innovation and creativity, and is truly one-of-a-kind.
Retaining the timeless silhouette of the FF.C6, and inspired by the original Flying Flea motorcycle of the 1940s, the intricate details throughout Motototem plays a part in the story. Starting at the front, the original handlebar grips are replaced with unique bronze pieces conveying the artist’s fingerprint – this is also carried into the footpegs, heightening the tactile elements already present in the FF.C6. Intricate hand-blown glass sculptures replace the LED head and tail light, which represents the beauty found in overcoming challenges.

The tank is at the center of this art, sunken within the forged aluminum frame. It is completely hand-crafted and made of travertine, emulating the silhouette of a parachute, a nod by the artist to those lightweight, nimble airborne Flying Flea.
