As Delhi slips into the winter season, its cultural calendar is marked with glorious events. Adding to the city’s vibrancy, the landmark 10th edition of Jashn-e-Rekhta — the world’s largest celebration of Urdu language, literature, and culture makes its return from December 5–7 at Baansera Park, New Delhi, organised by the Rekhta Foundation in collaboration with the Delhi Development Authority (DDA).

Marking a glorious decade of Urdu’s revival, this year’s festival arrives with over 300 artists and 35 sessions. They will unfold across five vibrant stages namely Mehfil Khana, Dayaar-e-Izhar, Sukhan Zaar, Bazm-e-Khayal, and Aiwan-e-Zaiqa with each offering a distinct shade of creative expression, emotion, and cultural exchange.

Sanjiv Saraf, Founder, Rekhta Foundation, shares on the festival, “Over the last decade, Jashn-e-Rekhta has become a people’s festival, made possible by the love of Urdu’s admirers worldwide. Every year, it grows not in size alone but in spirit, proving that Urdu continues to live in the hearts of millions.”

What to Expect at Jashn-e-Rekhta 2025?

The 10th edition promises an unforgettable confluence of poetry, music, theatre, and dialogue that captures Urdu’s lyrical depth and timeless grace. The highlights of Jashn-e-Rekhta include ‘Mehakti Khushbu Ka Safar Gulzar Ke Saath’, an intimate evening with notable poet and lyricist Gulzar reflecting on love, loss, and the poetry of life; ‘Rang-e-Mausiqi’, a powerhouse concert by popular playback singer Sukhwinder Singh; and ‘Saaz Aur Sama’, featuring singing duo Salim–Sulaiman’s soulful compositions.

Also on the roster is ‘Dil Abhi Bhara Nahin’, a heartfelt tribute to Sahir Ludhianvi featuring Javed Akhtar, Shankar Mahadevan, and Pratibha Singh Baghel. Visitors can also expect the India premiere of The Orchestral Qawwali Project by Rushil Ranjan and Abi Sampa while theatre lovers can enjoy the musical drama ‘Rang Aur Noor’ (Urdu Shairon Ke Filmi Shahkaar) by Huma Khalil celebrating Urdu’s cinematic legacy.There’s also the much-awaited Rekhta Mushaira and Rooh-e-Majrooh, uniting poets and lyricists from across the world.

Jashn-e-Rekhta will present itself almost as a winter sanctuary of language, taste, and artistry. Visitors can savour the culinary warmth of Aiwan-e-Zaiqa, explore literary treasures at the Rekhta Books Bazar, and discover artisanal crafts at the Rekhta Bazaar. At the Rekhta Pavillion, audiences can immerse themselves in interactive experiences and digital tools that make Urdu more accessible than ever. As twilight falls, the Light & Sound Show at Baansera will turn the Yamuna riverfront into a spectacle of poetry, rhythm, and radiance — an enchanting finale under Delhi’s winter sky.

Since its inception in 2015, Jashn-e-Rekhta has grown from a humble arts and culture festival into a global celebration of Urdu’s cultural legacy, drawing millions of admirers over the years. How to Attend Jashn-e-Rekhta 2025?

To attend Jashn-e-Rekhta festival 2025, one has to reach the venue Baansera Park which is accessible via Sarai Kale Khan Metro Station, with paid parking available nearby. The entry is ticketed, with single-day and multi-day passes available online. Early bird offers and student discounts are also open but for a limited time.
