Who is Kritika Kamra?
Bareilly born Kritika Kamra grew up in a close-knit Punjabi family that valued academics. Her father is a dentist, while her mother is a nutritionist and school principal. Her parents’ frequent transfers led Kamra and her brother Rahul to share a childhood where they were constantly on the move from one school to another before Kamra finally passed out from DPS Vasant Kunj.
Kamra entered an acting career by chance! While studying Fashion Communication at NIFT, a casting director spotted her outside campus, steering her away from design classrooms to the sets of the television industry. Her debut came with Yahaan Ke Hum Sikander (2007), but it was the highly popular daily soap Kitani Mohabbat Hai (2009–2011) which made her a household name fetching her a massive fan following.

Inside Kritika Kamra’s Mumbai Apartment
In a previously published feature by Architectural Digest India, Kritika Kamra’s rental Mumbai home that she personalised to her taste, became a talking point for quiet luxury. Shaped by movable pieces rather than structural changes, the space is filled with soft pastels, natural light, and textures that feel lived-in. Kamra lovingly calls it “the house of my 30s” bringing a sense of attachment which is rare to see in rental homes.
Inside, the living room features distressed furniture, textile art from her clothing label Cinnabar on the grid wall, layered rugs, and eclectic side tables. The dining area features a stunning ikat wallpaper, a fluted marble table, and a vintage pendant lamp showing her love for craft-led accents. Kamra also reimagined her balcony with new tiles and greenery, creating an inviting retreat for friends and family.

Kritika Kamra’s Business
Being a NIFT graduate, Kritika Kamra is not only great at aesthetics but deploy cares and values craftsmanship. Her sustainable fashion label Cinnabar, launched in 2024 is an expression of that. Rooted in the local craft traditions of Madhya Pradesh, the brand focuses on reviving and supporting Chanderi weaving which is deeply personal to her as her hometown Bareilly is just 30km away from Chanderi.

“Chanderi saris are luxurious yet lightweight, perfect for young people. During the pandemic, I went to chanderi for a food drive and saw firsthand how severely the weaver community was affected by the lack of work. They didn’t just need food but a steady income,” Kamra said in an earlier interview to Indulge Express adding that many artisans had handlooms at home, but their businesses had halted completely, with no platform to sell their stock.
“I wanted to help them in a way that enabled long-term income. We started with a simple Instagram page to educate people about chanderi and showcase the craft. What started as a small project is now evolving into a sustainable designer label.” While being just a couple of years old, Cinnabar has went beyond being just a business, it’s a way of honouring heritage, empowering artisans, and championing mindful luxury.
