Italy’s official tourism platform likewise identifies the property as the setting for the final scene of Casino Royale. That cinematic association has endured because the location itself seems almost purpose built for the Bond universe. The turrets rise above the lake, the surrounding mountains create a dramatic backdrop and the water provides an appropriately luxurious sense of isolation.

The latest attraction is considerably more tangible. A two bedroom, two bathroom residence measuring approximately 121 square metres, or 1,302 square feet, is currently being offered within the Villa La Gaeta estate. The property is not located inside the principal turreted villa itself but within a south facing annexe associated with the original nineteenth century residence. The annexe contains five apartments.
