Farhan Akhtar is one of those irritatingly talented people who seems to have read the entire Bollywood job description and decided to tick every box. Director, producer, actor, writer, singer, lyricist and musician are all on the list. Then there is the small matter of co founding Excel Entertainment with Ritesh Sidhwani in 1999 and helping create films that changed the vocabulary of contemporary Hindi cinema. The man who gave India Dil Chahta Hai, Lakshya, Don, and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara has now also brought the hugely popular Mirzapur franchise to the big screen as a producer with Mirzapur: The Movie, released on 4 September 2026. And with a career this colourful, the luxury that comes with it is worth a closer look. Let’s take a look inside Farhan Akhtar’s luxury lifestyle.
The Man Behind Excel Entertainment

The luxury story makes more sense when you understand the career behind it. Farhan founded Excel Entertainment with Ritesh Sidhwani in 1999, before making his directorial debut with Dil Chahta Hai in 2001. The film became a generational landmark and established the production house as a force willing to experiment with how Indian stories could be told. Excel subsequently backed projects including Lakshya, Don, Rock On!!, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Dil Dhadakne Do, Fukrey and Gully Boy.
The company later moved aggressively into streaming, producing Inside Edge, Mirzapur, Made in Heaven, Dahaad and Bambai Meri Jaan, among others. In 2026, Excel reached another milestone when Boong, produced by Farhan and Ritesh Sidhwani, became the first Indian production to win the BAFTA for Best Children’s & Family Film. Farhan has therefore not simply made money from Bollywood. He has helped build the machinery that makes some of Bollywood’s most ambitious projects possible.

Welcome To Vipassana

His home is appropriately cinematic. Called Vipassana, Farhan’s Bandra bungalow was reportedly purchased in 2009 for around ₹35 crore and spans approximately 10,000 square feet. Located around Bandstand, it sits in one of Mumbai’s most coveted celebrity neighbourhoods, close to Shah Rukh Khan’s Mannat and Salman Khan’s Galaxy Apartments. But calling it simply a luxury bungalow rather misses the point. The house has personality. Interiors have been described as eclectic, with wooden flooring, mismatched furniture, leather chairs, artwork, family photographs and an assortment of memorabilia. One of its most entertaining features is a customised coffee table made using old music albums, including Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon, John Lennon’s Imagine and the Rock On!! album. There is also a bookshelf designed to resemble a hotel luggage trolley, while his office displays awards and other pieces from his career. In other words, this is not a house designed to make visitors wonder how much the furniture cost. It is designed to make them wonder what story is behind it.
Then There Is The Garage

Farhan’s taste in cars is considerably less understated. For years, the collection has included the Porsche Cayman 718 GTS, one of the more enthusiast friendly cars in his garage. The sports car has been reported at around ₹1.15 crore in India and gives the actor filmmaker something considerably more entertaining than another enormous luxury SUV.
Then there are the SUVs. His reported collection has included the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, Mercedes Benz GLS 350D, Mercedes Benz ML350 CDI and a Land Rover Range Rover. But the biggest arrival came in 2025 when Farhan added a Mercedes Maybach GLS 600 to the collection. The dark green luxury SUV was reported to have cost approximately ₹3.50 crore ex showroom, making it the sort of vehicle that does not exactly sneak into the driveway unnoticed. The Maybach is a fitting addition. Farhan has always managed to occupy the space between understated and extravagant, and the GLS 600 does much the same thing. It is enormous, lavish and very expensive, but still technically an SUV.
The Watch On His Wrist

Farhan’s watch choices are perhaps where his taste becomes most interesting. One of the most notable pieces publicly associated with him is an A. Lange & Söhne Datograph, reference 403.032, featuring an 18-carat rose gold case, silver dial and leather strap. The complicated chronograph features the brand’s distinctive big date display alongside sub dials, making it a serious piece of German haute horlogerie rather than simply a celebrity accessory.
His relationship with watches has also extended into the commercial world. Farhan was featured in campaigns for Xylys, the Swiss watch brand from Titan, including its “Stay Inspired” campaign. Titan described the campaign around the idea of creating a metaphorical “25th hour” to pursue one’s passions. That association feels rather appropriate for someone who has managed to fit several careers into one lifetime.
