They say marriages are made in heaven, but the magic often lies in the details that make a celebration memorable. Omar Abdullah and Nidhi Razdan’s wedding offered a glimpse of just that, with traditional Indian attire, floral settings and personal moments taking centre stage. The couple’s photographs brought attention to a different expression of wedding style, one that relied on classic silhouettes and thoughtful colour choices rather than an elaborate visual spectacle.

The Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and the journalist announced their marriage on October 31, a day after their wedding on October 30. Abdullah shared photographs on X with the caption, “A new journey began yesterday”, while Razdan responded with a characteristically playful “It’s done bro”. The marriage was solemnised under the Special Marriage Act, with family members from both sides present as witnesses. Wedding functions were held in Srinagar and New Delhi, bringing together their close relatives.

A Classic Wedding Palette

Nidhi Razdan’s wedding wardrobe featured contrasting traditional looks. One photograph showed her in a red-and-gold ensemble, bringing a familiar bridal palette to the occasion.

Another captured her in a powder-blue saree adorned with delicate ivory-gold motifs and a subtle gold border, paired with a beige-gold blouse.

Paired with understated jewellery and a beige-gold blouse, the powder-blue saree offered an elegant take on contemporary Indian occasionwear

Omar Abdullah complemented the celebrations in equally classic ensembles. He was photographed in a blue bandhgala, while another portrait showed him in a muted beige kurta-pyjama set with a matching Nehru jacket. The contrasting shades created a visual balance between the couple’s outfits, while their traditional silhouettes kept the styling rooted in Indian occasionwear.

Flowers Set the Scene

The wedding photographs offered plenty to admire beyond the clothing. Floral arrangements, white drapes and an arch decorated with pink and white blossoms provided the setting for the couple’s portraits. The understated decor added colour and texture to the photographs while keeping the newlyweds at the centre of attention.

The choice of traditional attire and floral surroundings also brought attention to the appeal of intimate wedding celebrations. Rather than relying on elaborate staging, the photographs captured the couple sharing smiles and quiet moments together. Their visual story reflected a personal occasion where familiar customs and thoughtful details held their own significance.

A Reception In Silk

Razdan continued her traditional fashion choices for the reception, stepping out in a magenta-pink Banarasi silk saree featuring delicate motifs and a broad gold-toned border. She paired the drape with statement jewellery, while Abdullah opted for a dark bandhgala.

The ensemble introduced another rich colour combination to her wedding wardrobe, highlighting the enduring appeal of Indian textiles at celebratory occasions.

Perhaps that is what makes the couple’s wedding photographs linger. Between the traditional drapes, understated menswear and flowers framing their portraits, the celebration feels less about making a grand statement and more about marking a new chapter together. Sometimes, the most memorable wedding style is simply the kind that lets the people and their moments take centre stage.
