Global pop superstar Shakira set the stadium on fire during the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on June 11. With performances at the 2020 Super Bowl and two FIFA World Cup opening ceremonies, already under her belt Shakira knows how to captivate a massive audience. But this time, she also made headlines by wearing a custom Off-White outfit.
Shakira and Nigerian singer Burna Boy performed this year’s official song, ‘Dai Dai’, two weeks after the music video dropped. She was unmissable even in a sea of background dancers, thanks to her Off-White costume. According to reports, Shakira’s stylist, Nicolas Bru, worked alongside Off-White’s design team, helping shape the creative direction of the custom look.
Neon Glam Meets Sport

Shakira stepped onto the stage in a body-hugging mock-neck bodysuit in a striking neon-yellow hue. Known for her one-piece ensembles during her physically demanding performances, including during her ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran’ world tour, the singer once again chose a silhouette designed to support her energetic choreography. Intricate cut-out details across the bodice and torso added lent a dynamic edge to the sleek design, while coordinating fingerless opera gloves reflected the design through smaller slashed accents.

Layered over the bodysuit was an asymmetrical mini skirt crafted by off-white using panels of white, lavender, and butter yellow soccer jerseys. As the fabric moved in the breeze inside the Mexico’s Azteca Stadium, it revealed the words “We Are Ready”, a reference to the global music icon’s ‘Dai Dai’ music video, where football icons declare, “Shakira, we are ready”.
Stepping Out In R13

Completing the ensemble, the Grammy-winning artist sported a related theme with a pair of leather high-top sneakers from R13. She personalised the crisp white footwear, priced at USD 1,495 a pair with highlighter yellow laces, alongside 2.5-inch platforms Far from hindering her performance, the platform sneakers complemented her stage routine, reflecting her longstanding preference for structured, ankle-supporting footwear during live shows.
Shakira and Burna Boy set the mood for 80,000 fans with fireworks and dancing to open the 2026 World Cup at Mexico’s Azteca Stadium.
