And the reflection is painfully, brilliantly accurate.

Global couturier, and very much a local designer (please tell me you’re getting the Khloé K reference) Gaurav Gupta, designing for Lady Gaga and Doechii in the film’s already-viral Runway music video.

800 Hours, 3,000 Crystals

The looks are, to put it plainly, a met gala party on its own. Both Gaga and Doechii are sheathed from crown to toe in fully embellished, corseted sculptural bodysuits constructed as singular, seamless pieces, complete with integrated face coverings that blur the line between body, garment, and armour.

There is no beginning. There is no end. There is only couture.

These two iconic pieces took approximately 800 hours of painstaking handwork, brought to life by a team of over 20 artisans. Each bodysuit carries more than 3,000 individually placed crystals not scattered, but architected, building a dimensional, light-devouring surface that moves as the body moves and commands every room it enters.

Lady Gaga’s look is a pearl tone masterpiece. Dense with hand-applied crystals and pearls that turn her silhouette into something luminous and almost otherworldly, like a deep-sea creature that decided to attend a couture show and outshine everyone there.

Doechii’s is its perfect, darkly thrilling foil. An all-black bodysuit spiked with metal studs and layered over a base of sequins and crystals that give it an almost graphic, weaponised edge. If Gaga’s look is a siren, Doechii’s is a storm.

Speaking on the collaboration, couturier Gaurav Gupta said, ‘These looks were designed as a second skin. With Gaga and Doechii, the idea was to create something immersive and unapologetic, where couture becomes both armour and identity.’

This is, of course, far from Gaurav Gupta’s first rodeo on the world stage – it’s simply his most cinematic chapter yet. The couturier’s signature language of futuristic structure, dynamic form, and colour that commands attention has made him the go-to for the most powerful women in entertainment. Beyoncé, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, Shakira, Mindy Kaling, to name a few, have stunned too many times in his couture.

So, What Actually Happens In The Devil Wears Prada 2?

For those who need the plot summary: Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway), now a seasoned, seen-it-all award winning investigative reporter, finds herself crossing paths once again with the formidable Miranda Priestly and Nigel Kipling as the trio scramble to rescue Runway magazine from a scandal-fuelled collapse. To do it, they need Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt) who has since traded the chaos of Runway for the considerably more polished corridors of Dior’s U.S. operations. Will she come back? Will Miranda say please? Almost certainly not. We cannot wait.
