The garment bags will once again line the backstage corridors. Master artisans will make last-minute adjustments to hemlines stitched over hundreds of painstaking hours, while makeup artists race against the clock and models slip into creations too intricate to be rushed. Designers will take one final look at their collections before the lights dim and the music begins. In a matter of moments, months of craftsmanship will make their way down the runway.

It is a scene that returns every year with India Couture Week. More than a showcase of exceptional fashion, the platform has become the beating heart of Indian couture, where heritage techniques, contemporary craftsmanship and luxury converge. Since its inception in 2008 by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), India Couture Week has shaped the language of Indian luxury fashion, offering the country’s most celebrated couturiers a stage to present their most ambitious creations.

Today, the annual showcase is as much a cultural marker as it is a fashion event. Apart from unveiling collections, it has become the platform that influences India’s bridal landscape, festive dressing and luxury consumption trends. The runway has witnessed everything from archival crafts finding contemporary interpretations to designers redefining what Indian couture can mean for a global audience.

A New Chapter Unfolds

The 19th edition of Hyundai India Couture Week, presented in association with Nexxus New York and organised by the FDCI, is set to return from July 23 to 29 with a line-up that brings together some of the country’s most celebrated names in fashion. This year, the event also marks a historic first. Breaking away from tradition, the opening showcase will take place at Hyderabad’s Falaknuma Palace, making it the first time India Couture Week begins outside New Delhi.

Anamika Khanna will inaugurate the festivities on July 23, followed by showcases from Falguni Shane Peacock, Rohit Bal, House of Masaba, JJ Valaya, Tarun Tahiliani, Roseroom by Isha Jajodia, Rimzim Dadu, Arpita Mehta, Kunal Rawal, Dolly J, Jayanti Reddy and Aisha Rao. Rahul Mishra will close the week with the grand finale presentation on July 29, further underscoring the platform’s commitment to celebrating both established and evolving voices in Indian luxury fashion.

The Soul of Couture

What sets India Couture Week apart is its singular focus on couture and the stories that accompany it. It is where India’s leading couturiers unveil their most anticipated collections for the first time, often setting the tone for the upcoming bridal and festive seasons. Months of meticulous handwork come alive on the runway through intricate embroideries, sculptural silhouettes and bespoke creations that embody the finest traditions of Indian craftsmanship.

More than a series of fashion showcases, the week has evolved into a meeting point for luxury, artistry and innovation. Every presentation is carefully imagined through immersive set designs, artistic storytelling, celebrity showstoppers and thoughtfully curated luxury experiences, transforming each showcase into a cultural moment of its own.

Its influence extends well beyond its seven-day calendar. The silhouettes, colours and artisanal techniques unveiled here often shape bridal wardrobes and festive fashion trends across the country, while reaffirming India’s growing stature in the global luxury conversation.

The 2026 edition also reflects the changing contours of couture itself. From offsite presentations to collaborations across jewellery, beauty and lifestyle, India Couture Week has evolved into an immersive luxury experience that extends far beyond the runway. More than an annual fashion showcase, it remains a reflection of where Indian couture has been and where it is headed, bringing together heritage, artistry and contemporary design on one of the industry’s most influential stages.
