The arrival of the all-electric Mercedes-Benz VLE signals a transformative moment for Mercedes-Benz, redefining how space, luxury and versatility can coexist in a single vehicle. As the first model built on the brand’s newly developed Van Architecture, the VLE introduces a new category of premium mobility — the “Grand Limousine.” It blends limousine-like refinement with the practicality of a multi-purpose vehicle while embracing cutting-edge electric technology and digital innovation. With a focus on efficiency, comfort and intelligent design, the VLE has been developed to meet the needs of modern lifestyles, whether for families, leisure travellers or luxury shuttle services.

A New Platform for a New Generation
The VLE is the first vehicle to emerge from Mercedes-Benz’s modular and scalable Van Architecture, a platform designed specifically for the next generation of electric vans and people movers. This flexible architecture enables a completely new design approach, combining sleek aesthetics with exceptional interior versatility.
Visually, the VLE departs from the boxy proportions traditionally associated with vans. A low, streamlined silhouette and taut roofline create a refined and aerodynamic profile, resulting in an impressive drag coefficient of just 0.25. At the front, a reinterpreted Mercedes-Benz grille, illuminated accents and star-shaped daytime running lights give the vehicle a confident presence, while arc-shaped rear lights integrated into the aerodynamic spoiler create a distinctive light signature.
Inside, the sense of openness is enhanced by the expansive Sky View panoramic roof, which stretches across the rear cabin and floods the interior with natural light. Combined with ambient lighting and carefully crafted materials, the cabin delivers the signature “welcome home” feeling associated with Mercedes-Benz interiors.
Limousine Comfort Meets MPV Versatility

At its core, the VLE is designed to combine two automotive worlds: the ride comfort and driving dynamics of a luxury limousine with the space and flexibility of an MPV. Advanced chassis technologies ensure a refined driving experience. The AIRMATIC air suspension system with level control can raise or lower the ride height by up to 40 millimetres, improving both comfort and efficiency. Rear-axle steering with a turning angle of up to seven degrees significantly enhances manoeuvrability, reducing the turning circle to just 10.9 metres — remarkable for a vehicle capable of carrying up to eight passengers.
Inside, the seating concept offers unprecedented flexibility. Customers can configure the VLE with five to eight seats across three rows, choosing from newly developed seat designs that range from manually adjustable comfort seats to the luxurious Grand Comfort Seat with massage function, lumbar support, calf rest and wireless charging.
The innovative Roll & Go seating system allows manually operated seats to slide, fold or be removed entirely thanks to integrated wheels. Electrically adjustable seats can even be repositioned remotely via the infotainment system or smartphone app, enabling what Mercedes-Benz describes as a choreographed “seat ballet.” With all rear seats removed, the VLE offers up to 4,078 litres of cargo space, ensuring ample room for luggage, equipment or lifestyle gear.

Immersive Digital Intelligence

Technology is central to the VLE experience, powered by the brand’s new AI-driven Mercedes-Benz Operating System, MB.OS. This intelligent system integrates infotainment, vehicle functions and driver assistance technologies into a seamless digital ecosystem.
At the front, the optional MBUX Superscreen spans the width of the cockpit, housing three displays behind a single glass surface: a 10.25-inch driver display, a 14-inch central touchscreen and an optional 14-inch screen for the front passenger. The system supports streaming services, apps and entertainment while providing essential driving information in a clear and intuitive format.
Rear passengers benefit from the impressive MBUX Rear Space Experience. Hidden within the headliner is a retractable 31.3-inch panoramic display with 8K resolution and split-screen functionality. When activated, it transforms the interior into a cinema, gaming lounge or mobile office. Paired with the optional Burmester 3D surround sound system and Dolby Atmos audio, the VLE offers an immersive entertainment environment rarely seen in vehicles.
The latest MBUX Virtual Assistant enhances interaction through generative AI, enabling natural conversations, contextual understanding and personalised responses. Navigation powered by Google Maps further improves the driving experience by optimising routes and automatically planning charging stops for electric journeys.
Electric Performance Built for Long Distances

Efficiency and range are central to the VLE’s electric powertrain. The initial VLE 300 electric delivers a range of more than 700 kilometres (WLTP), supported by a new battery with a usable capacity of 115 kWh. The vehicle’s advanced 800-volt architecture enables rapid charging, allowing the battery to recover up to 355 kilometres of range in just 15 minutes at a fast-charging station.
This capability makes long-distance travel significantly more convenient for drivers and passengers alike. A more powerful VLE 400 4MATIC electric variant will follow, producing over 300 kW and accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in around 6.5 seconds, ensuring that performance matches the vehicle’s luxury ambitions.
Designed for Every Lifestyle

Versatility remains one of the defining characteristics of the VLE. Mercedes-Benz has developed a wide portfolio of configurations tailored to different lifestyles — from family transport and leisure vehicles to premium executive shuttles. Families benefit from practical features such as dual electric sliding doors, a separately opening rear window for convenient loading and multiple climate-control systems that quickly adjust interior temperatures in extreme weather conditions.
For adventure-oriented drivers, the VLE offers impressive capability as well as space. The vehicle can tow up to 2.5 tonnes, making it suitable for caravans, boats or horse trailers. Optimal propulsion and maximum traction are ensured by a powerful electric drive unit delivering up to 409 horsepower (305 kW) paired with 4MATIC all-wheel drive, allowing the vehicle to confidently handle long journeys, challenging terrain and demanding leisure activities. Meanwhile, luxury shuttle configurations can feature vis-à-vis seating layouts and enhanced comfort features, transforming the spacious interior into a refined environment ideal for executive transportation.
The Next Chapter of Mercedes-Benz Mobility

With its combination of advanced electric technology, luxurious comfort and extraordinary spatial flexibility, the VLE represents a bold step forward for Mercedes-Benz. It demonstrates how electric mobility can expand beyond efficiency to deliver new levels of practicality, connectivity and travel comfort. More than simply a new model, the Mercedes-Benz VLE signals the beginning of a new era for the brand’s van portfolio — one where intelligent design, digital innovation and sustainable performance redefine the experience of space on the road.
