At the recently concluded Lakmē Fashion Week X FDCI in Mumbai, Amit Aggarwal presented Orizon, a collection that didn’t look like a run of the mill runway show but felt like a meditation on Indian heritage in motion. Known for crafting exquisitely sculptural silhouettes that blend industrial precision with artisanal skill, Aggarwal collaborated with Indriya, Aditya Birla Jewellery to explore what happens when couture and jewellery speak the same language.

Amit Aggarwal’s Orizon Reimagines Heritage

Bollywood actress Disha Patani, dressed in Aggarwal’s meticulously engineered modern lehenga and shining in Indriya’s exquisite creations, became the living embodiment of that dialogue. She moved through the runway as a vessel for heritage reimagined, simultaneously rooted in tradition and strikingly modern.

In an exclusive conversation with Outlook Luxe, Aggarwal described Orizon as a study of evolution. ‘My work has always explored transformation within tradition,’ he said.

‘With Orizon, “heritage in motion” reflects a continuous reimagining of Indian craftsmanship through sculptural forms and engineered textiles. As India evolves, so does its cultural identity, adapting, expanding, and absorbing new influences. I believe heritage remains relevant only when it is allowed to evolve. My practice is rooted in this idea, shaping tradition into a contemporary expression.’

The Dialogue Between Craft And Jewellery

This philosophy was evident in the way Aggarwal’s Banarasi weaves, mirrorwork, and architectural draping conversed with Indriya’s intricate jewellery.

Abhishek Rastogi, Head of Product Design, Research and Development at Indriya, reflected on the collaboration. In an exclusive interview with Outlook Luxe, he said, ‘At Indriya, we’ve always believed that jewellery should be felt, not just seen, and Amit Aggarwal’s design language naturally aligned with this thought. His approach is inherently architectural yet fluid, which resonated with our vision of jewellery as a second skin—something that moves with the wearer while making a strong, sculptural statement.’

A Runway Beyond The Ordinary

The technical ingenuity was as striking as the conceptual underpinnings. Indriya’s master craftsmen employed the samosa dart setting, an angular technique that enhances light reflection, giving each Polki stone an ethereal luminosity. ‘We were exploring what I call luminous heritage,’ said Rastogi. ‘For us at Indriya, it begins with honouring both the craftsmanship and the material especially Polki in its raw, uncut form, shaped through generations of artisanal knowledge. That is where true legacy resides. With Orizon, each piece of jewellery was designed to carry memory, light, and a sense of intimacy. There’s a very intentional interplay of techniques: radiant Polki set in claw-based, Victorian-style settings, Diamonds paired with blush colours stones, layered silhouettes, tumbled emeralds and moments of gold being the central highlight.’

Shadow, Light, And The Journey Of Form

Aggarwal describes the creative process in equally poetic terms. He explains, ‘For me, shadow and light coexist in the same story. Orizon traces that journey, moving from introspection to celebration. Form, texture, and movement all express that shift.’

The collaboration offered a contemporary homage to Indian heritage where craft, emotion, and innovation converged, transforming tradition into a starting point for reinvention.
