A singular bottle of The Balvenie Fifty – First Edition arrives in Gurugram, alongside The Balvenie Thirty and Twenty-Five from the Rare Marriage Collection
The Balvenie has marked a significant chapter in its storied journey by introducing an ultra-rare treasure to India — The Balvenie Fifty – First Edition. Representing half a century of Speyside mastery, this single bottle is part of the revered Balvenie Fifty Collection and commemorates fifty years of dedication to traditional whisky craft.
For the first time, Indian collectors and connoisseurs can lay claim to a bottle that stands as both a work of art and a historical landmark. Available exclusively at G Town Wines, Golf Course Road, Gurugram, this edition offers an unmissable opportunity to own a piece of whisky history.
Aged in a European oak refill butt since 1973, this exceptional single cask expression was hand-selected by Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie. Over five decades, the whisky has matured with grace, developing a depth and complexity that defines The Balvenie’s style.
The nose opens with layered tannins and ripe berries, intertwined with subtle hints of rich leather. On the palate, an unmistakable richness unfolds — toffee sweetness merges with citrus brightness and deep oaky spice, creating a tasting journey that lingers luxuriously.
This remarkable rarity is presented in equally distinguished packaging, conceived by bespoke craft workshop Croglin in Cumbria. The display incorporates over 100 handcrafted elements, including a helix structure of seven ultra-thin layers of wood — each less than one-tenth of a millimetre thick — and a 14-carat gold-plated brass frame.
In addition to the Fifty-First Edition, India has also welcomed two new expressions from The Balvenie Rare Marriages Collection — The Balvenie Thirty and The Balvenie Twenty-Five. Both whiskies are limited-release masterpieces that exemplify the art of marrying different cask types to achieve remarkable balance and depth.
Crafted by Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE, The Balvenie Thirty is the sweetest and most honeyed expression in the collection. Marrying traditional American and European oak casks matured for decades, it offers a silky sweetness that unfolds into rich honey notes, mellow oaky tones, and hints of candied orange peel.
The packaging is a tactile indulgence — a soft goat leather cylinder adorned with a gradually fading debossed pattern inspired by the distillery, finished with elegant white gold foil. The design symbolises the gradual unfolding of flavour during the marrying process.
Another creation by David C. Stewart MBE, The Balvenie Twenty-Five showcases the mastery of Traditional Oak Tun Marriages. This expression blends European and American cask maturations to reveal some of The Balvenie’s most sought-after flavours — bold vanilla oak, crystallised ginger, and sweet runny honey.
Its presentation case, in a rich burgundy hue fading to a lighter ombré, mirrors the evolution of flavour over years of maturation. Rings of white gold foil elegantly mark each year of its journey.
Commenting on the launch, Sachin Mehta, Managing Director – William Grant & Sons India, noted, “India is home to an increasingly discerning community of collectors and whisky connoisseurs who value authenticity, legacy, and craftsmanship. With the unveiling of The Balvenie Fifty, we are proud to bring one of our rarest and most storied expressions to India.”
Global Brand Ambassador Charles Metcalfe added, “The Balvenie Fifty making its debut in India is a moment of immense pride — a singular expression that captures five decades of unwavering commitment to craftsmanship.”
