AE Living Introduces FORMA – Chairs Made with Heart and Craft

A poetic fusion of craft, contemplation, and comfort—AE Living’s latest chair collection, FORMA, transforms the act of sitting into a soulful experience

AE Living provides a respite—a time to rest, think, and rediscover the fundamentals in a world that is always striving for innovation and presenting FORMA, a collection of exquisitely crafted chairs from the Delhi-based custom interiors company. Each item is a silent meditation on the nature of comfort, form, and existence.

FORMA is a living philosophy rather than just furniture, driven by the brand’s motto of ‘… transcending the ordinary to craft extraordinary living spaces’. A single, profound question served as the starting point: How can form benefit the body, the space, and the spirit? The solution is expressed in metal, fabric, and wood—materials selected for their memory, lightness, and capacity to hold the human experience rather than because they are trendy.

Materials are used for their unique qualities, such as the way fabric retains body imprints, metal transmits light, and wood retains memories. The method is highly tactile, deliberate, and extremely origin-respecting. The collection is the result of several seasons of research, sketching, and shaping rather than a single creative explosion.

“The journey of FORMA was not one of seeking what is new, but of returning to what is essential,” says Ankit Jain, Founder of AE Living. “In an age where the pursuit of innovation often borders on the excessive, we chose a quieter path, one that treads closer to the rhythms of the hand, the curve of the spine, and the poise of posture,” he adds.

The earthen repose of the Tatami Chair with a naturally grounded seating posture is ideal for meditative moments, leisurely gatherings, or low table dining. It features a low-profile silhouette that complements minimalist aesthetics and small-space living.

The Scholar Chair, designed for academia, libraries and refined office environments, is for design aesthetes who appreciate craftsmanship. With its clean lines and slim profile, the Ravello Chair is a durable, dependable and versatile piece that makes for a natural fit in compact dining areas and formal settings.

Onda catches the eye for its sinuous curves and understanding of human ergonomics. It invites the user to sink in, slow down and embrace comfort in its most indulgent form. True to its name, Brut embodies strength courtesy of its rigid silhouette and firm seating. Crafted from industrial-grade materials like engineered hardwood, it commands attention while maintaining balance and restraint.

At its heart, FORMA is a dialogue—between hand and material, posture and emotion, tradition and modernity. The pieces are modern in aesthetic but ancient in spirit, drawing from Brutalist silences, the humility of tatami mats, and the utility of timeless academic furniture.

“Design must be attuned to how we evolve—not just physically, but emotionally,” notes Vrinda Kumari, Creative Director of AE Living. “FORMA is alive. As our lives change, so will its forms.”

Therefore, FORMA is a live body of work—a continuous investigation into how we inhabit our places and ourselves—rather than a completed narrative. It serves as a reminder that sitting can occasionally be the most revolutionary thing we can do. Still. Present. At peace.
