Gaurav Gupta Unveils ‘Quantum Entanglement’ with Janhvi Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra on the Runway

The designer’s first-ever bridal couture show in Mumbai married Indian heritage with sculptural modernity, with Janhvi Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra turning showstoppers

On a glittering August evening in Mumbai, designer Gaurav Gupta staged his first-ever bridal couture showcase, unveiling the much-anticipated Quantum Entanglement collection. Known globally for his avant-garde silhouettes and red-carpet glamour, Gupta shifted his creative focus homeward, crafting a series of opulent bridal pieces rooted in heritage yet alive with modern movement. The result was a breathtaking runway experience, headlined by actors Janhvi Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra, who embodied the bride and groom of a new generation.

Quantum Entanglement: Heritage in Motion

At the heart of Quantum Entanglement is the centuries-old Banarasi brocade, once reserved for royalty, now reimagined with bold sculptural tailoring and a contemporary fluidity. The collection was a meticulous exploration of craft—fine silk jacquards woven with metallic threads, layered with intricate embroidery in crystals, bugle beads, dabka, zardozi, and nakshi. Each creation was a dialogue between India’s textile traditions and Gupta’s signature architectural drapes, inspired by the grace of nine-yard Navvari saris and South Indian silhouettes.

In one garment, centuries of artistry converged—Banarasi weaving, Mughal zardozi, and South Indian draping—resulting in couture that felt at once ancestral and future-ready. The craftsmanship was painstaking, often requiring hundreds of hours, lending each ensemble the gravitas of an heirloom.

Janhvi Kapoor: The Modern Indian Bride

Janhvi Kapoor, no stranger to Gupta’s runway, closed the show in a surreal bridal look that merged fantasy and tradition. Her heavily embroidered lehenga, paired with an off-shoulder blouse, was crowned with a delicate veil edged in intricate embroidery. A subtle yet striking detail—the Gaurav Gupta infinity logo embroidered on the lehenga’s waistband—symbolized continuity, unity, and eternal love.

Understated yet luminous, her look was accessorized with contemporary kalires, adding a twist to the traditional bridal accessory. Every stitch celebrated the grace of a bride who honors tradition while embracing her individuality.

Sidharth Malhotra: Regal Minimalism for the Modern Groom

Walking hand in hand with Janhvi, Sidharth Malhotra brought regal refinement to the runway in an ivory sherwani adorned with tonal embroidery. The ensemble was paired with an ivory shawl, a subtle nod to royal court dressing. His look was the epitome of understated opulence—elevated yet effortless, perfectly complementing the bride’s grandeur.

The Runway as a Celebration

The atmosphere at the Mumbai showcase was electric, with a front row glittering with Bollywood stars including Malaika Arora, Khushi Kapoor, Vijay Varma, Disha Patani, Nitanshi Goel, Neha Dhupia, Angad Bedi, Kiran Rao, Anshula Kapoor, and Shriya Saran. The show felt less like a traditional presentation and more like a wedding celebration—a nod to the collection’s intimate inspiration and festive timing ahead of the wedding season.

A Designer’s Homecoming

For Gupta, Quantum Entanglement was more than a fashion statement—it was a deliberate pause from the Paris Haute Couture calendar to create something personal. This was a homecoming, a tribute to Indian craft and culture, and an act of reverence towards the artisans who bring these visions to life. Every loom’s rhythm, every embroidery stitch, was a meditation in legacy, reimagined for the bride and groom who want more than a ceremonial outfit—they want a piece of living history.

The Param Sundari Connection

As much as the evening celebrated couture, it also offered a glimpse into the onscreen pairing audiences will soon see in Param Sundari. The chemistry between Janhvi and Sidharth was palpable as they walked the runway, perfectly in sync. With the film set to release in theatres soon, their bridal runway moment doubled as a cinematic teaser—an intersection of fashion, film, and cultural celebration.

Conclusion: A New Chapter in Indian Bridal Couture

This debut bridal collection honors the legacy of Indian craftsmanship while speaking directly to the desires of a new generation. In bringing Janhvi Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra together in this luminous celebration, Gupta has set the tone for 2025’s wedding season—one where heritage meets high fashion, and every bride and groom can step into their own version of forever.
