The appeal of the ensemble lay in its carefully considered contrasts. While the linen saree brought a sense of ease to the traditional silhouette, the silver blouse introduced an element of artisanal detail, giving the look its distinctive character. Each element complemented the other without taking away from the overall simplicity of the outfit.

A Linen Saree With Silver Drama
For the occasion, Bhatt opted for the Gumal linen saree by Anavila, a label known for its understated approach to Indian textiles. Crafted in classic chambray linen, the sea-green drape featured a delicate selvedge detailed with zari and a contrasting blue border. The colour palette lent the ensemble a refreshing quality, while the lightweight fabric kept the overall appearance relaxed and effortless.

The saree’s traditional appeal was complemented by an unconventional blouse that became the defining element of the outfit. Custom-designed by Rimple and Harpreet‘s Rah Jewels, the raw silver creation featured intricate jewellery-inspired embroidery. Its sleeveless halter neckline, scooped front and backless silhouette gave the otherwise classic saree a contemporary edge. The cropped design further distinguished the blouse, allowing its elaborate surface detailing to take centre stage.

Bhatt draped the saree traditionally, arranging the pallu to reveal more of the statement blouse. The contrast between the fluid linen and the heavily embellished silver detailing created an interesting balance, demonstrating how an unexpected blouse can transform a familiar ethnic silhouette. It also offered a fresh interpretation of festive dressing, where the appeal lies in thoughtful design rather than excessive ornamentation.

Jewellery Details And Festive Glamour
Keeping the accessories restrained, Bhatt paired the ensemble with artisanal earrings from the personal collection of Sunita Kapoor, Rhea Kapoor’s mother. A simple gold band ring completed the jewellery selection without competing with the intricate blouse. A delicate blue bindi provided a subtle finishing detail, picking up on the contrasting border of the saree.
Celebrity stylist Rhea Kapoor, along with Sanya Kapoor, put together the look, while Mickey Contractor was responsible for the makeup and Hrishikesh Naskar styled her hair. Alia wore her hair loose in a centre-parted style with soft waves. Her beauty look featured glittery pink eyeshadow, kohl-defined eyes, mascara-coated lashes, softly flushed cheeks and a luminous complexion. A glossy pink lip completed the makeup.

Bhatt’s ‘Ramayana‘ premiere look also makes a compelling case for incorporating statement blouses into an ethnic wardrobe. A relatively understated saree can take on an entirely different character when paired with a distinctive design that brings together jewellery craftsmanship and contemporary styling. The combination of Anavila’s linen drape and Rah Jewels’ raw silver creation illustrates how two different design sensibilities can work together to create an ensemble with a strong visual identity.
