Mercedes-Benz Launches India-Exclusive G 63 Collector’s Edition At ₹4.3 Crore

With only 30 units planned and availability restricted to existing luxury customers, Mercedes has launched the G 63 Collector's Edition as India's most exclusive G-Class variant yet

June 13, 2025

The G-Wagon has been India’s unofficial trophy for years now—parked outside five-star hotels, ferrying Bollywood royalty, and generally making every other SUV look like it’s trying too hard. Now Mercedes-Benz has finally caught on, launching the G 63 Collector’s Edition with colours inspired by Indian monsoons and soil. Only took them long enough.

This isn’t just another limited edition cash grab, though it certainly costs like one at ₹4.3 crore. What makes this interesting is that Mercedes has created something specifically for India—Mid Green Magno and Red Magno paint jobs that supposedly capture the essence of our landscapes. It’s marketing speak, sure, but it’s also acknowledgement that Indian buyers deserve more than hand-me-downs from European showrooms.

The exclusivity playbook is textbook Mercedes: thirty units, available only to existing “top-end” customers. They’re not even pretending regular millionaires can participate in this particular flex. It’s automotive elitism dressed up as cultural appreciation, and somehow it works.

But here’s what’s genuinely worth noting—this represents a shift in how luxury brands view India. For decades, we’ve been treated as a dumping ground for global leftovers or watered-down versions of international products. The Collector’s Edition, with its India-specific design input and local R&D involvement, suggests Mercedes finally sees India as a market worth designing for, not just selling to.

The mechanical package remains unchanged, because why mess with perfection? The 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 still produces 585 horsepower and enough drama to wake up entire neighbourhoods. The mild-hybrid system adds another 22 horses, because apparently 585 wasn’t quite enough for Indian traffic conditions.

Inside, buyers can get their names engraved on the dashboard grab handle—a touch of personalisation that speaks to how luxury consumption has evolved. It’s not enough to own something expensive anymore; it has to be uniquely yours. The two-tone Catalana Beige and Black Nappa leather creates a cabin that’s equal parts boardroom and boudoir.

The timing couldn’t be better. India’s ultra-rich are increasingly comfortable with their wealth, and they want products that reflect their cultural identity rather than just their bank balance. The G 63 Collector’s Edition delivers exactly that.

Whether this ₹66 lakh premium over the standard G 63 represents value is almost beside the point. In a market where differentiation matters more than depreciation, Mercedes has created something that can’t be replicated by simply writing a bigger cheque. That’s worth something, even if that something costs more than most people’s houses.
