In the glitzy centre of the 78th Cannes International Film Festival, Chopard once again proved to the world why it is still a symbol of classic style and originality. An exclusive rooftop supper commemorating the Maison’s L’Heure du Diamant collection—a brilliant ode to the timeless appeal of diamonds and Chopard’s unmatched skill in gem-setting—was held with a view of the famous Croisette.

Held beneath the golden sky and into the glittering night, the private event drew together Chopard’s closest friends and distinguished guests in a refined circle. Global supermodel Irina Shayk, Egyptian celebrity Amina Khalil, and actress and Festival jury chairwoman Juliette Binoche were among them. Caroline Scheufele, co-president and artistic director of Chopard, kindly hosted the evening. Her infectious energy and sincerity gave the occasion a touch of familial elegance.

The rooftop space exuded an ethereal beauty, adorned with lavish floral décor that reflected the campaign’s style. Guests were given a first peek at the latest designs in the L’Heure du Diamant collection, which features the Maison’s distinctive fusion of sophistication, femininity, and mechanical prowess. The atmosphere was as much about beauty as it was about legacy.

The dinner, a culinary masterpiece, was crafted by none other than two-Michelin-starred chef Sylvestre Wahid in collaboration with La Palme d’Or restaurant. The elegant tone of the evening was beautifully complemented by each course, which was a subtle depiction of French haute cuisine.

With a lively DJ set by Nathalie Duchêne and a soulful live performance by singer-songwriter Sienna Spiro, the celebration continued under the stars. The musical selection perfectly encapsulated the Riviera’s viva de vivre.

Beyond the glitz and glitter, however, this night was an important turning point in Chopard’s history as a watchmaker. The 2025 update to the L’Heure du Diamant line, which was unveiled at Watches and Wonders earlier this year, features a posh new box set called the Precious Hours, which is made up of twelve distinct watches.

Each model is driven by the tiny but powerful 10.01-C manual-winding mechanical movement and is contained in a 26mm casing. The calibre’s 45-hour power reserve demonstrates Chopard’s dedication to minimisation without sacrificing functionality. One of the tiniest calibres in the world, it is only 15.70 mm in diameter and 2.90 mm thick.

Furthermore, a moonphase complication has been added for the first time in the collection’s history. The moonphase model, which is set against a deep blue aventurine dial, adds a celestial flair to the collection’s tradition while showcasing both technical artistry and poetic beauty.

L’Heure du Diamant’s origins date back to 2012, when it was introduced as a celebration of elegance and femininity. Winning the coveted Jewellery Watch Prize at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève in 2013 solidified its quick ascent. Since then, it has developed further, taking cues from Chopard’s own heyday in the 1970s, when the brand daringly embraced sculptural bands, vivid extravagance, and ornamental stones.

This most recent innovation is a declaration of future intent rather than merely a nod to the past. Caroline Scheufele’s collection, which is rooted in the brand’s family-led history, reflects a reimagining of the Maison, much like Karl Scheufele III did in 1963.

Chopard is a shining example of timeless artistry in a world where fads are taking over. With its fine craftsmanship and minute details, the L’Heure du Diamant series celebrates the value of each moment rather than merely telling time.

As the final notes of the evening faded into the Cannes night and diamonds continued to shimmer under the moonlight, it was clear: for Chopard, time is not merely measured — it is cherished, adorned, and immortalised.
