Swiss luxury watchmaker TAG Heuer has made a grand return to the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2025, taking up its prestigious role as Official Timing Partner. This move reinforces the brand’s unwavering commitment to motorsport and its cultural synergy with the world of speed, performance, and innovation.

This year’s festival, themed “The Winning Formula – Champions and Challengers”, commemorates 75 years of Formula 1, making it a fitting stage for TAG Heuer’s re-entry—especially as the brand also resumes its role as Official Timekeeper to Formula 1. This dual celebration cements TAG Heuer’s stature as a timekeeping titan in racing history.

A Legacy Forged in Motorsport

TAG Heuer’s relationship with motorsport is not just historical—it’s foundational. From introducing the first dashboard-mounted chronograph in 1911, to launching the first 1/100th second chronograph in 1916, and creating the first automatic chronograph in 1969, the brand has shaped how motorsport is timed and experienced. Partnerships with icons like Porsche, Oracle Red Bull Racing, the Indianapolis 500, and the Automobile Club de Monaco demonstrate TAG Heuer’s unshakeable place at the heart of racing culture.

Returning to Goodwood is not just a moment of nostalgia—it’s a statement of intent. The Festival, with its blend of tradition and forward-thinking innovation, is the perfect platform for TAG Heuer to continue its dialogue with automotive enthusiasts and pioneers alike.

The Festival of Speed: A Celebration of All Things Automotive

Founded in 1993 by Charles Richmond (now the 11th Duke of Richmond), the Goodwood Festival of Speed has become a cornerstone of global motorsport culture. At the center of the event is the iconic hillclimb—a 1.16-mile sprint with a 100-meter elevation gain—where cutting-edge engineering and historic vehicles meet on the same tarmac.

But Goodwood is more than just a race. With dedicated rally stages, themed paddocks, supercar showrooms, and landmark car reveals—like the 2024 debut of the Porsche 911 Carrera GTS—the festival offers a full-throttle immersion into the past, present, and future of motoring.

With hundreds of thousands attending in person and millions engaging online, Goodwood has become more than a festival—it’s a global celebration of car culture and cutting-edge mobility.

A Watch That Captures the Spirit of Speed

To commemorate its return to the Goodwood Festival of Speed, TAG Heuer has created a limited-edition timepiece that blends Swiss precision with British racing soul. The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Festival of Speed, based on the acclaimed 42 mm Carrera Chronograph, features the in-house TH20-00 movement.

Its dial, rendered in a rich British racing green, pays homage to Goodwood’s iconic aesthetic. Accents of red and a hobnail-textured face evoke the thrilling era of 1970s motorsport, while the brown leather rally strap anchors the look in vintage racing heritage. With just 100 pieces made, the watch will first be available to Goodwood Road Racing Club Members, before being released to the public.

Driving the Future, Honoring the Past

“Motorsport is not just about competition, it is a cultural force—just like TAG Heuer,” said Antoine Pin, CEO of TAG Heuer. “To return as the Timing Partner at the Festival of Speed is to celebrate the art and innovation of motoring at its highest level.”

The Duke of Richmond, founder of the festival, echoed the sentiment: “TAG Heuer has the most incredible connection to motor racing. We’re thrilled to welcome them back and to commemorate this with a special edition watch rooted in our shared British motorsport tradition.”

As TAG Heuer resumes its role at Goodwood and in Formula 1, this chapter not only honors a glorious past but also accelerates toward a high-octane future. Whether timing a hillclimb or launching a limited-edition chronograph, the brand proves once again that in the world of motorsport, every second counts.
