Fashion designer Anita Dongre is one of the most influential designers from India. In her three decade long career, Dongre apart from launching her eponymous label started her westernwear line AND, affordable ethnic wear brand Global Desi, and has also shown her commitment to sustainability with mindful luxury line Grassroot. Apart from that, she has dabbled into jewellery, gifting, and accessories building a reportedly ₹1400 crore fashion empire.

Throughout this journey, her work has consistently celebrated the essence of India — craftsmanship, textiles and embroidery. Continuing her global ascent, Dongre writes another glorious chapter in her design journey with the launch of her 3,000 sq. ft. flagship store in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles. She becomes the first Indian designer to open a flagship in Beverly Hills, her fourth international store after New York City and The Dubai Mall. The new store opening reaffirms her commitment to taking Indian design to a global audience.

The launch event held this month, co-hosted by Mindy Kaling and Poorna Jagannathan, brought together several South Asian creative forces shaping global culture, including Jay Shetty, Anjula Acharia, Payal Kadakia, Radhika Shetty, Francia Raisa, Ami Desai, Lee Rodriguez, Deepica Mutyala, Ramona Young, Amrit Kaur, Nidhi Sunil, and Richa Moorjani, each raising a toast to Dongre’s seamless fusion of culture, luxury, and artistry.

Nestled on the iconic Wilshire Boulevard, the store embodies Dongre’s philosophy of mindful luxury in one of the world’s most notable fashion destinations. The space showcases a refined curation of handcrafted couture, ready-to-wear collections, and accessories that celebrate Indian craftsmanship through a modern, international lens.

Inside, the store reimagines the soul of modern Rajasthan. The interiors are adorned with hand-painted Pichhwai murals of flora and fauna, bespoke wallpapers, embroidered cushions, and custom furnishings crafted by Indian artisans. It’s a destination where heritage and contemporary design co-exist in harmony.

At the store’s centre stands a striking elephant matriarch and calf installation from The Great Elephant Migration, a global art initiative supporting sustainability and indigenous craft traditions. Sculpted by Indian artisans using invasive lantana weeds, the artwork serves as a key reminder of conservation, empathy, and conscious luxury.

Speaking about the Beverly Hills store launch, Anita Dongre said, “Every creation we make is touched by the hands of skilled women artisans whose stories and traditions inspire our work. Bringing their artistry to Beverly Hills is not only about fashion, it’s about giving India’s craftspeople the global platform they so deeply deserve.”

Rooted in Rajasthan, Dongre has long championed the preservation of India’s handloom and embroidery legacies. With her Beverly Hills opening, she strengthens her mission to redefine global luxury by representing India’s design identity. Including the new store, Dongre now has a presence across India, New York City, Dubai, and Los Angeles.

Earlier this year, Dongre reintroduced the Barbie Signature Diwali Doll, a collector’s favourite from her 2024 collaboration with Barbie. The doll dressed in Dongre’s Moonlight Bloom lehenga set featured motifs of dahlias, jasmine, and lotus paired with traditional jewellery and a bindi. It was a nod to India’s heritage, representation, and the timeless grace and has been a buzzworthy collector’s item since its launch.
