An ivory saree, intricate gold embroidery and a striking red blouse made for a compelling style statement when Rashmika Mandanna stepped out for the promotions of ‘Ranabaali’. At a time when elaborate occasionwear often competes for attention through embellishments and dramatic silhouettes, the actor’s ensemble offered a more measured approach to dressing up. The look drew its appeal from traditional craftsmanship, a restrained colour palette and details that revealed themselves gradually.

Mandanna wore a saree by designer Mrinalini Rao for a promotional event in Hyderabad, where she appeared alongside her husband and co-star Vijay Deverakonda. Priced at Rs 1,31,600, the ensemble brought Indian craftsmanship into focus without relying on an abundance of accessories. The result was a look that felt celebratory yet composed, with the ivory drape doing most of the talking.

The Craft Behind Drape

The Rashmika Mandanna ivory saree featured intricate zardozi embroidery along its borders, with gold tassels adding movement to the pallu. The traditional embellishment lent the ensemble a sense of richness, while the ivory base kept its overall appearance light. Rather than opting for a heavily layered look, Mandanna allowed the detailing to remain the focal point.

She paired the saree with a contrasting red, full-sleeved blouse featuring ornate embroidery and scalloped edges. The deeper shade introduced a striking element to the otherwise muted palette, while the blouse’s detailed sleeves added definition to the silhouette. The combination of ivory, red and gold also gave the outfit a festive quality without making it feel overly ornate.

Her accessories followed the same considered approach. A delicate choker, stud earrings and a haath phool complemented the embroidery without competing with it. Mandanna wore her hair in a centre-parted low bun decorated with red flowers, echoing the blouse and bringing a traditional finishing touch to the look. Dewy makeup, softly defined eyes and nude-pink lips kept the beauty choices understated.

Styled by Harmann Kaur, the ensemble demonstrated how the smallest details can influence the overall impression of an outfit. The appeal lay not in the number of elements, but in how the fabric, embroidery, colour and accessories worked together.

A Case for Considered Luxury

Mandanna’s Ranabaali look also offered a coordinated fashion moment with Deverakonda, who wore a white kurta paired with a bundi jacket. Their complementary outfits relied on a shared palette rather than identical styling, allowing each ensemble to retain its character.

The saree provides a reminder that occasion dressing need not depend on excess. Its price reflects a designer ensemble, but the broader styling lesson is accessible: let one element stand out, keep accessories proportionate and choose colours that complement rather than overwhelm each other.

As Indian luxury fashion continues to draw on traditional textiles and embellishment, Mandanna’s promotional appearance makes a case for the enduring appeal of the saree. Her choice brings craftsmanship into a contemporary setting, showing how a familiar silhouette can feel fresh through thoughtful styling. Sometimes, understated luxury is less about making a grand entrance and more about giving every detail room to be noticed.
