There are cars you buy because they make sense. And then there are cars you buy because sense, quite frankly, is overrated. Which brings us to the Lamborghini Urus SE Tettonero Capsule, unveiled at the ever-so-stylish Milano Design Week like a piece of rolling theatre that accidentally wandered into the real world. Limited to just 630 units, this is Lamborghini taking its already outrageous Super SUV and asking a deeply unnecessary, yet deeply satisfying question: what if we made it even more dramatic?

First, the looks. Because with Lamborghini, that’s where the argument usually begins and ends

First, the looks. Because with Lamborghini, that’s where the argument usually begins and ends. The Tettonero, which roughly translates to “black roof,” features a Nero Shiny upper section that slices across the car like a sharply cut Italian suit. Beneath it lies a colour palette so extensive it feels less like choosing a car and more like commissioning art. Six body colours, including first-time shades like Giallo Tenerife and Verde Mercurius, pair with external liveries in hues like Rosso Mars and Verde Mantis. Over 70 possible configurations mean no two cars need ever look the same, which is exactly the point.

hen come the details. Brake calipers in six colours, wheel options ranging from 21 to a frankly excessive 23 inches

Then come the details. Brake calipers in six colours, wheel options ranging from 21 to a frankly excessive 23 inches, and the option to wear the “63” logo proudly on the doors as a nod to Lamborghini’s origins. Carbon fibre appears everywhere it should, sharpening the exterior with diffusers and splitters while infiltrating the cabin across the dashboard, centre tunnel, and door panels. It is both decorative and declarative.

Step inside, and the theatre intensifies. Nero Ade sets the tone, but it’s merely the backdrop for contrast shades

Step inside, and the theatre intensifies. Nero Ade sets the tone, but it’s merely the backdrop for contrast shades like Viola Acutus, Arancio Dryope, and Verde Viper. Add 12 embroidery options, Dinamica leather, and Corsa-Tex microfiber, and you begin to realise this isn’t just an interior, it’s a curated environment. A place where every stitch has been considered and every surface feels intentional.

Now, to the bit that actually matters when the road opens up. A 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 works alongside a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor and a 25.9 kWh battery to produce a combined 800 CV and 950 Nm of torque. That translates to 0–100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, 0–200 km/h in 11.2 seconds, and a top speed of 312 km/h. Numbers that would be impressive in a supercar, let alone an SUV that can also handle daily duties without complaint.

And yet, it can also behave. The hybrid system allows for over 60 kilometres of pure electric driving

And yet, it can also behave. The hybrid system allows for over 60 kilometres of pure electric driving, turning this fire-breathing machine into a silent operator when required. It’s a dual personality that feels almost contradictory, yet entirely deliberate. Underneath, the engineering borders on obsessive. A centrally mounted, electronically controlled torque splitter continuously distributes power between the axles, working in tandem with a limited-slip rear differential to enable what Lamborghini calls “oversteer on demand.” Whether you’re carving corners or tackling less predictable terrain, the system adapts seamlessly, delivering grip, agility, and just enough mischief.

That grip is courtesy of Pirelli, with P Zero tyres tailored for performance and Scorpion Winter 2 options for colder climates, both featuring Pirelli Elect technology to complement the hybrid setup. And because presentation matters, Lamborghini chose the striking Pirelli HangarBicocca as the backdrop for its first images, reinforcing what is already obvious. This is not merely a vehicle. It is design, engineering, and performance wrapped into something that feels closer to art than transport. The Urus SE Tettonero Capsule doesn’t try to be sensible. It doesn’t need to be. It exists to push boundaries, to indulge individuality, and to remind you that sometimes, excess is exactly the point.
