Collaborations and watchmaking tend to shine brightest when everyone involved decides to have a bit of fun, and Jacob & Co. has made a career out of exactly that. The Opera collection, in particular, has become inseparable from the legendary Godfather timepiece, a watch that famously did more than tick away the hours and instead broke into song on your wrist. Taking the collection to newer heights, the timepiece maker has reveaaleed the new The Vantara Green Camo edition. This novelty takes that familiar theatrical spirit and gives it a fresh look. In short, it is Jacob & Co doing what it does best, turning serious watchmaking into something you can smile about while wearing.

With its parent organisation, Reliance Foundation, Vantara

With its parent organisation, Reliance Foundation, Vantara has become one of the world’s largest wildlife havens. Their support has enabled the rescue, treatment, and care of over 1.5 million animals, with facilities nurturing over 2,000 species. From building the largest elephant hospital and 22 speciality clinics to launching conservation breeding for 38 endangered species.

The new timepiece comes on an 49mm case with the center of the dial having a hand-painted figurine of Anant Ambani. Surrounding him, finely detailed depictions of a lion and a Bengal tiger represent the wildlife Vantara is dedicated to protecting. Framing the scene is a green camouflage gemstone motif, crafted from demantoid garnets, tsavorites, green sapphires, and white diamonds—397 stones totaling 21.98k. The green dial gets Jacob & Co. designed hour and minute hands, and a flying tourbillon at 6 o’clock.

When the music box pusher is activated, the entire movement rotates on a central axis. The tourbillon, the cylinders, the central miniature sculpture, all the visible elements are in play. That includes the off-centered hour and minute dial, which spins counterclockwise at the same speed as the movement goes clockwise, and so remains upright. Powering the watch is calibre JCFM0F, a hand-wound movement with a 50-hour power reserve. The watch is finished on a green leather strap.
