Introducing The New Seiko Limited-Edition Presage Line With Unglazed Arita Porcelain Dials

Seiko’s latest Presage Classic Series creation marries four centuries of Japanese porcelain mastery with mechanical innovation, unveiling a watch where tradition meets tactile modernity

The Seiko Presage line, which debuted in 2016, has established a unique identity in the world of watches by honouring the rich history of Japanese craftsmanship via the prism of exquisite mechanical watchmaking. The release of a limited-edition watch featuring a unique unglazed Arita porcelain dial this year marks a new chapter in the history of the Presage Classic Series. The watch is as poetic as it is accurate.

Porcelain, Reimagined

With its immaculate surfaces and glossy finishes, Arita porcelain, a Japanese ceramic heritage that dates back more than 400 years, has long captivated people worldwide. However, Seiko’s latest work dares to be different. Presage uses unglazed porcelain for the first time, giving the dial a completely new look that is richly textured, matte, and subtly luminous. As a result, the surface is warm and white and seems to be breathing in response to the light.

This new dial’s microscopic precision engraving of a three-dimensional rhombus pattern is what really captures the attention. This design, which was once employed as an auspicious motif in ancient Japanese products to represent longevity and energy, gives the watch face both visual depth and legacy. The dial transforms into a calm work of modern elegance and cultural symbolism when framed by gold-toned hands and indexes.

Crafted With Heritage And Heart

Behind this dial is a painstakingly refined process, orchestrated under the watchful eye of Arita porcelain master Hiroyuki Hashiguchi. Leading the dial creation is Toshiaki Kawaguchi, whose workshop has been crafting porcelain since 1830. With special high-durability Arita porcelain — four times harder than traditional ceramic — and ultra-precise molds, each dial is not just a component, but a work of art.

Seiko’s commitment to cultural preservation is obvious. This initiative is a sign of the will to preserve historic powers and ensure their continued success in the contemporary world, and it goes beyond simple aesthetics. It is an ideology that supports sustainable industry and innovation, which is in line with UN SDG Goal 9.

A Movement Worthy Of The Canvas

Calibre 6R51, a new-generation mechanical movement of Seiko’s renowned 6R series, powers this exquisite piece. The golden oscillating weight, a hidden gem for those who value intricate inner workings, is visible through the transparent sapphire case back.

Limited to just 1,200 pieces globally, this Presage model will be available from July 2025 through Seiko Boutiques and select retail partners, priced at INR 1,50,000.

Why This Watch Matters

It’s not just a timepiece — it’s a celebration of Japanese artistry, a tactile tribute to craft, and a quiet rebellion against the glossy, fast-paced world of mass luxury. For collectors and connoisseurs alike, this Seiko Presage represents not just a limited edition, but an enduring impression.
