There was a time when Indian watch collectors had to board a long-haul flight to Geneva, Dubai or Singapore if they wanted to see the world’s most extraordinary timepieces under one roof. If you wanted to admire the watches everyone in the industry was talking about, you packed a suitcase, booked a ticket and hoped the boutique hadn’t already sold the piece before you arrived. Those days, however, are beginning to disappear. India’s luxury watch market has matured at remarkable speed, and the world’s biggest names are paying attention. So much so, in fact, that one of horology’s most celebrated travelling exhibitions is now making its way to Mumbai. Thanks to Ethos Limited, the country’s largest luxury watch retailer, the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) Exhibition 2026 will arrive in India’s financial capital, giving collectors a front-row seat to the finest watchmaking creations of the year without ever leaving home.
In a press statement, Yasho Saboo, Chairman, Ethos Limited, said, “It is immensely gratifying to see this celebrated exhibition come to Mumbai. India today is home to one of the world’s fastest-growing communities of collectors and watch enthusiasts, and this exhibition is a recognition of the country’s growing importance in global horology. We are honoured that Ethos has been entrusted with bringing this exceptional showcase to India, enabling collectors and the wider public to experience the very finest creations in contemporary watchmaking while further strengthening India’s place in the international watchmaking community.”

The Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève, often described as the Oscars of Watchmaking, represents the highest honour in contemporary horology. Every year, the competition recognises the finest achievements in mechanical watchmaking, celebrating innovation, craftsmanship, technical excellence and artistic creativity across multiple categories. Before the winners are announced in Geneva, the shortlisted timepieces embark on an international exhibition, allowing collectors around the world to experience these remarkable creations up close.

The exhibition will feature the finalist timepieces selected across 15 award categories, each representing the pinnacle of modern watchmaking. From highly complicated mechanical masterpieces and groundbreaking technical innovations to artistic métiers d’art and exceptional jewellery watches, the exhibition brings together some of the most important creations produced by the world’s leading watch manufactures and independent watchmakers during the year.
Bringing the GPHG Exhibition to India is more than simply adding another stop to the exhibition’s international calendar. It reflects India’s rapidly growing influence within global luxury watchmaking. Over the past decade, Indian collectors have become increasingly sophisticated, with demand expanding well beyond established brands into independent watchmakers, haute horlogerie and complicated mechanical timepieces. Hosting the exhibition acknowledges India’s emergence as one of the world’s most exciting luxury watch markets and places Mumbai firmly on the international horological map.

For enthusiasts, the exhibition offers something no photograph or online video can truly replicate. Visitors will have the opportunity to examine the shortlisted watches in person, appreciating the intricate finishing, handcrafted details, innovative movements and artistic techniques that define contemporary haute horlogerie. It provides collectors, media, enthusiasts and the wider public with an immersive understanding of the extraordinary skill required to create watches worthy of GPHG recognition.
