A$AP Rocky’s First Ray-Ban Drop As Creative Director: Meet The Wayfarer Puffer

The rapper-turned-creative-director fuses Harlem grit with high-fashion edge in his latest Ray-Ban collab — the Wayfarer Puffer, available now in seven bold colorways

After making waves at the 2025 Met Gala and Cannes Film Festival, A$AP Rocky is back with another culture-defining moment — this time in collaboration with Ray-Ban. The Harlem-born rapper, fashion trailblazer, and newly-appointed creative director at Ray-Ban has unveiled his latest creation: the Wayfarer Puffer, a daring reinvention of the brand’s most iconic frame.

This isn’t just another celebrity collab — it’s a deep creative fusion of identity, nostalgia, and future-forward design. The classic Ray-Ban Wayfarer, once worn by legends like James Dean and Madonna, now carries a new attitude with Rocky’s signature style.

“Introducing my first iteration of the classic Wayfarer style, I present to you the Puffer,” said A$AP Rocky in a statement.

The Wayfarer Puffer is a bold reinterpretation of Ray-Ban’s legendary Wayfarer frame, featuring sculptural, padded contours that take cues from the puffed-up aesthetics of streetwear. Think: your favorite quilted jacket transformed into an accessory for your face. Each frame features:

  • Amplified puffy design for sculptural volume
  • Ultra-black lenses for a sharp, modern edge
  • Gold detailing including logo accents
  • A luxurious, elevated handcrafted finish made in Italy

Available in seven standout colorways — black, red, white, yellow, green, blue, and pink — the Puffer allows for expressive individuality while staying rooted in Rocky’s Harlem-born style.

Where It All Began

The Wayfarer Puffer made its dramatic debut at the 2025 Met Gala, where Rocky arrived wearing a one-of-a-kind edition of the shades. The statement piece featured:

  • An oversized 18kt gold Ray-Ban logo
  • Natural diamonds and multicolored gemstones
  • Diamond-set rivets along the front
  • A bold sculptural silhouette, complementing his couture ensemble

Shortly after, Rocky was seen wearing the Puffers again during the Cannes Film Festival, where he hosted a private yacht party — further pushing the glasses into the spotlight as an icon of modern luxury streetwear.

The goal? “Cement the Puffer as a new symbol of elevated streetwear,” said the brand.

More Than Just a Pair of Shades

This launch is Rocky’s first major release since being appointed Ray-Ban’s first-ever creative director in February. But this isn’t just about sunglasses — it’s about storytelling. Rocky personally conceptualised and directed the campaign, shot in Harlem where he grew up. The campaign features friends, neighbors, and local creatives, adding a deeply personal and cultural lens to the product launch.

“Every shot tells a story, and every frame feels like a piece of the culture.”

The campaign doesn’t scream luxury — it shows it. It’s Harlem meets Milan, puffers meets pearls, and the streets meet the studio. The visual identity of the launch reflects everything Rocky stands for: freedom of expression, nostalgia flipped on its head, and fashion that tells a story without saying a word.

This isn’t Rocky’s first foray into Ray-Ban design. In April, he launched the “Blacked Out” collection, which featured three redesigned classics:

– Mega Wayfarer
– Mega Clubmaster
– Mega Balorama

Each was finished with gold-plated details, ultra-black lenses, and a personalized AWGE tattoo-style logo on the temple tips — a subtle nod to Rocky’s creative collective.

The Puffer feels like a natural evolution. While the “Blacked Out” line was more minimalist and tonal, the Puffer is fearless and vibrant. It leans into statement-making style with bright colors, plush textures, and sculptural silhouettes that redefine what a pair of sunglasses can be.
