One month before marriage is the most exciting yet tiring stretch for a bride’s journey. From the last minute shopping, finalising the guest list to overseeing the venue decoration, catering and fine-tuning everything, dreams meet deadlines until the D-Day happens. Often, your skincare and haircare bridal routine goes for a toss juggling with many tasks. Add to it the dust, and pollution in the air and it takes away the natural lustre. Further busy work brings strain while missing on balanced diet may deprive the hair and skin of essential nutrients.

The last minute parlour bookings may give a temporary relief but the inner glow comes with following daily haircare and skincare rituals. From beauty facials, pollution-proof skincare, and aromatherapy to skin-foods, try these expert-approved bridal beauty rituals a month before your wedding to get that “lit-from-within” glow!

When AQI levels rise, it’s essential to tweak your skincare routine to strengthen your barrier and restore your glow

Pollution-proof skincare

Dust, pollution, and soot in the air contribute to particulate matter that can damage the skin barrier leading to inflammation, dullness, acne, breakouts, and even premature ageing. When AQI levels rise, it’s essential to tweak your skincare routine to strengthen your barrier and restore your glow. Dr. Geetika Srivastava, Dermatologist & Founder, Influennz Clinic shares, “Cleanse gently. Use a mild, non-stripping cleanser to remove dirt and grime without disturbing your skin barrier. Opt for a barrier repair cream enriched with ceramides and peptides to nourish and strengthen your skin. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 50 or higher) to protect against UV rays and pollution-induced oxidative stress. Incorporate Vitamin C and Niacinamide serums. These powerhouse actives neutralize free radicals generated by pollution and bring back that lost radiance.”

Pre-wedding bridal facials

When it comes to bridal preperation, the skin needs to look fresh, even-toned, and luminous. Dr. Srivastava shares about pre-wedding bridal facials which are her go-to recommendations:
1. HydraFacial MD: Perfect for dull, dehydrated skin. This OG facial uses patented vortex technology to deeply cleanse, exfoliate, and hydrate for instant glow.
2. Aqua Fairness Facial: Ideal for oily and acne-prone skin. Powered by oxyjet technology, it exfoliates while a cocktail of kojic and glycolic acid helps remove tan and refine texture.
3. Photofacial: A must for the “delicate darlings.” Using IPL (Intense Pulsed Light), it targets sun damage, pigmentation, and dullness—revealing visibly clearer, brighter skin.

Aromatherapy for bridal beauty

For ceebrated beauty expert Dr. Blossom Kochhar Aromatherapy is the “soul of beauty”. It balances the body, mind, and spirit, allowing your inner peace to shine through your skin. She tells how Aromatherapy plays a deeply restorative role in pre-wedding skincare. “Stress, anxiety, and fatigue can make even the best skin appear tired, but essential oils help bring back balance and luminosity. Oils like lavender, neroli, rose, and ylang ylang work to calm the mind, stimulate blood circulation, and promote healthy cell regeneration. Diffusing lavender essential oil before bedtime helps soothe anxiety and promote restful sleep, both of which are essential for maintaining healthy, glowing skin,” she says.

Dr. Kochhar shares the best Aromatherapy rituals that help brides look radiant and feel balanced:
1. Radiance Facial Ritual: Blend aloe vera gel, lemon juice, and orange essential oil for a refreshing facial mask. Use it twice a week to gently exfoliate and reveal naturally glowing skin.
2. Bridal Body Massage: Add lemongrass essential oil to your massage oil for toning and detoxification. Follow it up with a soothing bath infused with rose or lavender oil to relax the body and mind.
3. Aromatic Balance And Honeymoon Care: Diffuse lavender oil at night to ease pre-wedding tension. Keep peppermint essential oil handy to prevent travel sickness, and rosemary oil to stay energised during long events. Lastly, ylang ylang oil can be used as a gentle aphrodisiac, bringing calmness, connection, and confidence as you embark on your new journey.

Bridal face-masks

More than the last-minute treatments, it’s the mindful rituals that start weeks before the wedding that make an impact. Dr. Kochhar suggests beginning with weekly facials using natural ingredients. However they are to be used as per skin suitability. “Use aloe vera gel, lemon juice, and a few drops of orange essential oil for a blend which instantly brightens and refreshes the skin. Complement it with hydrating or oxygen facials to restore balance and promote cell renewal. A pre-bridal body massage enriched with lemongrass essential oil detoxifies and uplifts, while a traditional Ubtan made of orange peel powder, sandalwood powder, rose petals, and ylang ylang essential oil refines and softens the skin.”

Digital Creator and Cosmetologist, Tanya Singh recommends face-masks for a to-be-bride, “Try Hydrating masks with hyaluronic acid or rice extract to deeply plump the skin. Brightening masks with vitamin C or glycolic acid to fade dullness and bring radiance are a great choice too. Soothing masks with aloe vera or centella can reduce redness and sensitivity. These keep the skin balanced, glassy, and makeup-ready ensuring the bridal glow is real, not just painted on.”

Skin-foods for bridal glow

A month before the wedding, a nutrient-rich diet can make a noticeable difference. Dr. Chiranjiv Chhabra, Chief Dermatologist and Founder, Alive Wellness suggests having fatty fish like salmon or mackerel for omega-3s, which can reduce inflammation and support a healthy skin barrier. He adds on key foods to include in the diet for the bride-to-be, “Nuts and seeds provide vitamin E and zinc, essential for skin repair and hair strength. Citrus fruits and berries supply vitamin C, boosting collagen synthesis for plump,  and radiant skin. Leafy greens offer antioxidants and iron to improve skin clarity, while whole grains and legumes support scalp health through B vitamins. Hydration is equally important, aim for 2–3 litres of water daily to maintain skin moisture.”

Dr. Srivastava adds that a month before the wedding, the bride-to-be must focus on fluids that not only hydrate but also nourish your skin and hair from within. “Drink Methi seed water which is rich in galactomannan and helps curb cravings, reduce bloating, and balance blood sugar levels. Coconut water is loaded with potassium, maintains electrolyte balance and strengthens the skin barrier. Saffron water is a detoxifying drink packed with antioxidants that lends a natural glow to the skin.”

Power up your bridal glow with ABC (apple-beetroot-carrot) juice, spinach-apple-cucumber smoothie, Banana-whey-almond milk smoothie, and dry fruit smoothie for radiant skin and all-day energy.

Balance your hormones

Hormonal balance is crucial, especially in the month leading up to the wedding, as fluctuations can trigger breakouts. Dr. Chhabra suggests, “Include flaxseeds and chia seeds, which contain phytoestrogens that help modulate hormones. Fatty fish and green leafy vegetables provide anti-inflammatory nutrients to calm hormonally driven acne. Fermented foods like yoghurt and kefir improve gut health, which is closely linked to hormone regulation. Limiting refined sugars and processed foods can further stabilise hormones and prevent flare-ups.”

Treating pigmented lips

While you follow elaborate skin and haircare routines, do not forget about lipcare. For those dealing with pigmented lips, discoloration and uniform darkening, gentle exfoliation and consistent hydration are key. Dr. Chhabra shares tips and precautions to treat pigmented lips, “Use a mild lip scrub 2–3 times a week to remove dead cells. Apply moisturising balms containing shea butter, cocoa butter, or hyaluronic acid regularly. At night, consider antioxidant-rich oils such as almond or rosehip oil to lighten pigmentation over time.” He adds to avoid habits that can worsen pigmentation, including smoking and excessive caffeine. “If needed, professional treatments like lip masks with brightening agents can offer faster results under dermatological guidance,” he shares.

Makeup removal is “non-negotiable”

Lastly, removing makeup properly is a “non-negotiable” especially when you wear heavy long-wear formulas. Digital Creator, Anjani Bhoj, shares the most convinient and effective way to do that, “I always double cleanse. First, I use a cleansing balm which can melt everything off from waterproof mascara to matte lipstick. Then I go in with a gentle foaming cleanser to make sure my skin is squeaky clean but not stripped. And my secret step? A hydrating toner right after! It helps the skin bounce back and stay soft. This little ritual keeps my skin barrier happy and is the easiest effective way to wake up with clean, glowing skin even during those crazy wedding prep days.”
