I was staying at Rayavadee, a luxury beachfront resort tucked away on the edge of Krabi’s National Marine Park. I had two days there, and from the moment I arrived, it felt like I had stepped into a painting — towering limestone cliffs, thick green foliage, powdery white beaches, and the emerald shimmer of the Andaman Sea all around me. As I was being shown to my villa, the Deluxe Pavilion, my guide—a hotel staffer—mentioned that traditional southern Thai villages inspired the resort’s design. “It’s all about blending with the surroundings,” she said, pointing to the natural wood details and open-air spaces. “The architecture reflects the culture here, which mixes Thai, Malay, and Indian influences. With tables set in the sand and views across the Andaman Sea to Happy Island, it’s a postcard come to life. Part cave, part beachside hideaway, the setting is unlike anywhere else.

The menu features grilled meats, fresh Andaman seafood, salads, pasta, and shareable bites. Come sunset, the restaurant transforms into a barbecue venue with set menus that include local delicacies like sai oua sausage, lobster, and Wagyu beef. The drinks list features creative cocktails and classic favourites—perfect for toasting a romantic evening.

“We serve lunch and dinner right on the sand, under ancient limestone formations that have stood here for millions of years,” said a senior staff member at Rayavadee. “The tide comes in and out just metres from where you dine. Most guests are surprised by how refined the menu is—we serve everything from grilled seafood and premium cuts of meat to local Thai favourites. Sunset is the most requested time, especially for our barbecue experience. Guests book weeks in advance for it. It’s not just a meal—it’s the highlight of their trip.”

During my stay at the resort, sharing meals with like-minded people, surrounded by warm, humble staff and spectacular sunset views of the Andaman Sea, was a truly soothing experience. There was laughter, the gentle clink of wine glasses, and moments of complete silence as everyone became lost in the joy of their food—memories I’ll hold close.
