Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla unveiled their new store at Jio World Plaza in Mumbai last week to much fanfare. Designed by A Wonder Room, Abu Sandeep’s interior decor division, the store draws upon their maximal philosophy taken to its zenith. A world within a world, everything is handcrafted and beauty is the essence that touches each object that is part of the store, which is an ode to Indian craftsmanship and design.
Abu Jani commented on the store launch, “The Jio World Plaza store is a breathtaking ode to our legacy of 39 years. The refined artistry it exudes has taken years of mastery and we are proud to have created yet another Made in India space that matches the most cherished corners of our imagination.”

Maximalist palace
The store has a magnificent central area surrounded by lush curtains edged with Aabla and mirror embroidery. A colossal chandelier crafted with sharp glass elements smiles over the sublime creations below. The walls are adorned with radiant gold leafing intricately detailed with custom AJSK Patola patterns. The motifs are most meticulously handcrafted by master artisans of Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla.
Patola patterns dance on gold surfaces while hand-painted etched doors enchant with their delicate strokes. Even the brass clothing racks are customised emblems of ‘Aikyam’ – the Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla logo that embodies their design philosophy with an elegant balance of masculine and feminine elements. The same logos, intricately hand-carved, become exquisite door handles of this palatial space. A mix of embossing, quilting, carving and cutting techniques makes the store a museum of infinite majesty.

The crown moulding cornices glow under ambient light, creating an atmosphere that is luminous and lavish all at once. The mirror-encrusted curtains, decadent pops of red and walls that resemble the finesse of haute couture lend an unforgettable charm to the boutique. Perhaps the most mesmerising feature is the deliberate use of movable lights, chandeliers, bevelled mirror ceilings and towering mirror walls in a manner that amplifies the space, catching the light in a dance of gold and crystal that is quintessential AJSK. After all, design is an art, but to play with existing elements to create something entirely new is nothing short of artistic brilliance.
Ode to the classic
The store will feature classic Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla embroidery techniques reinterpreted into fresh styles handcrafted especially for the launch. These include chikankari reimagined into shirts and tunics, ideal for a summer wardrobe with an irresistible touch of luxury. ‘Tharad’, ‘Pearl Stone’ and ‘Raj’ collections will also dazzle in-store along with wearable marvels in multi-colour Resham and maximal concept blouses created with sarong sarees.
The menswear includes the iconic ‘Crushed Silk’ collection alongside the impossibly intricate ‘Shadow’, ‘Ajrakh’ and ‘Resham Jaali’ ranges. The space will also display ‘Tharad’ and ‘Bakhia’ by Abu Sandeep.

The recently launched luxury candle collection will also be available in-store. Designed to inspire serenity in every space, it features five decadent fragrances inspired by themes of royalty, magic, love and celebration.
A magnificent bridal section houses the most precious garments from a recently crafted dreamy capsule collection. The section showcases a maximal red bridal outfit next to a regal groom’s ensemble, capturing the essence of a timeless fairytale wedding.
As Saudamini Mattu, CEO of Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla remarked, the new store is a maximalist paradise where traditional craftsmanship and luxury unite to celebrate couture in every detail. He said, “It will showcase our celebrated craft techniques reimagined with a fresh flair.”
